The Phoenix weather forecast calls for highs of 116°F tommorrow and 117°F for
the day after. Looking for activities best done under the AC. Decided to check
out instructional music videos on YouTube and see what was available. It's amazing how many of
the video instructors or teachers are tone-deaf and less than proficient on their chosen instruments. Some of the videos are interesting and valuble learning tools. Most are just some guy that can't actually play the song, or offer any real insights
into the material. Hey, it's free.

Saw a guy do a nice rendition of the Stones (Keith's) "Love in Vain".
Seems he might have done a double-take, twice, marginally fast and
then as fast as normal tempo is for slow blues song;- Keith likes his
own tunings, plays a customized 5-string Tele for same, and there
wasn't a clue to where this Utuber was at, apart from being all over
the neck, in that relation. Probably standard tuning on a standard
six-sting, at least for him. Where or Keith plays it, even if
off-standard, seems now immaterial: This Utuber knew what he wanted
and was doing and nailed the riffs.

There's a lot of different approaches. Goes with individual style, as
does its reception and somewhat for how "good" a (better Utber) player
is. Not much else for that guy, anyway, apart from sounding right --
a watch and get it or don't affair, as he wasn't in the least about
    explaining.

Keith likes to mix things up from version to version and often from verse to verse. In standard tuning, capo at the third fret and start with an open D chord form. You've got it!

Pretty much any time I see the word "tutorial" or "lesson" in a Youtube description, it's some guy playing badly and incorrectly along with the
record with a ton of inappropriate raspy distortion. Also, you can
always hear the acoustic sound of the strings. Also, they're usually
wearing shorts and have the camera pointed up their crotch.

Still, I sometimes get a clue about something that I haven't been able
to get quite right on my own, so I often bite my mental tongue and
    watch anyway.

I picked "Love in Vain" off the "Let It Bleed" and "Ya-Yas" records
back in the day and I think I got it just right. It was in standard
tuning. He may have played it differently from time to time since then.

There is the "Shutup & Play" channel on Youtube - that guy nails it all.
