I have Squier guitars made in Korea. The best ones are from the Cort factory, Samick ones are okay and the Vesper models best avoided. The quality can be excellent, once you replace the second-rate electrical components.

THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANY JUNK MADE IN 1950's LIKE GIBSONS OR STRATS

Same technology .. wood , and crude magnetic pickups .

I have a PRS SE Soapbar that's really quite good as far as fit and
finish. I did replace the pickups, but I'm not convinced that made a
    big difference.

Serial number prefixes. CN = Cort, S9 = Samick, VN = Vesper from memory.

It is also said that the colour of the logo denotes quality (gold, silver, black) but I think the different logos also reflect the different factories.
My Cort model definitely has a gold logo. It's somewhat unusual for Stratocasters because rather than having a fretted maple neck, it has a maple fretboard on maple neck.

I have a PRS SE Soapbar that's really quite good as far as fit and

Even cheap pickups can sound really nice if you're lucky. I always replace Stratocaster pickups but the selector switch definitely has a limited lifespan.

Alhambra guitars were made in Spain starting in the mid-60s. Mainly
nylon-stringed, classical instruments. Quality guitars overall. I have never seen or heard a Korean knock-off. An older thread, but still of interest.

there used to be a type of mail order store in canada ,
it was called consumers distributing and ,
they had stores with a warehouse on site ,
you just filled out your order from a catalogue ,
and they'd get your stock right there and i think ,
alhambra was the guitar the carried for the type of kid ,
that wanted a guitar until they found out it meant work ,
the guitars retailed for less than 100 bucks

Well........I own a little classical guitar made by "GIG" from Korea. Bought it about 27 years ago for $60 and it's awesome. Only tweaked the action years ago and that's all. In contrast, I also bought a Takemine a few years later, electric acoustic,
paid around $400, and it's junk!
