A former acting inspector general for the Department of Homeland
Security and a subordinate have been charged with stealing
government software and databases containing personal data on more
than 250,000 government employees, the Justice Department said.
Charles K. Edwards, 59, of Sandy Spring, Maryland, and Murali
Yamazula Venkata, 54, of Aldie, Virginia, were indicted in
Washington on 16 counts, including conspiracy to commit theft of
government property and to defraud the United States, theft of
government property, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, the
Justice Department said. Venkata was also charged with destroying
records.
Prosecutors alleged that from October 2014 to April 2017, Edwards,
Venkata and others conspired to steal proprietary information from
the DHS inspector general's office so Edwards' company, Delta
Business Solutions, could sell an enhanced version to the
Agriculture Department. [...]
It seems that the Obama administration was not as squeaky clean as
we have been led to believe.
Name for us the number of Obama appointees
convicted of committing a crime.
