An overzealous smartphone is the real star of the latest Jexi trailer
---------------------------------------------------------------------
There's nothing quite like the thrill of a new smartphone. Unless, of
course, that smartphone develops a (rather vindictive) mind of its
own, which is the case in the new trailer for Jexi. You can watch the
trailer in the post below, but be careful about letting your
smartphone see it.

The film centers on Phil (Adam Devine), a guy with a major dependency
issue - he's addicted to his phone. He has no friends, he has a job
writing pop culture 'Top 10' lists, and his love life is non-existent.
But his Facebook status is about to change. When he is forced to
upgrade his phone, the latest model comes with an unexpected feature
... Jexi (Rose Byrne), an A.I. life coach, virtual assistant, and
cheerleader. With her help, Phil begins to get a real life. But as he
becomes less dependent on his phone, Jexi's artificial intelligence
morphs into a tech nightmare determined to keep Phil all to herself,
even if it means ruining his chances of finding success.
The movie also stars Alexandra Shipp (Tragedy Girls, Dark Phoenix),
Michael Peña (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Wanda Sykes (Curb Your
Enthusiasm, Black-ish), Justin Hartley (Smallville, Little), Ron
Funches (Undateable), Kid Cudi (Need for Speed), and Charlyne Yi
(The Disaster Artist).
Jexi is co-penned and co-directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the
creative duo behind The Hangover and Bad Moms. The film is also being
produced by Suzanne Todd (Bad Moms) with Mark Ross and Alex Ginno
overseeing the film for the studio.
The movie will arrive in theaters on October 11.
