RUSSIA has test-fired a nuclear capable ICBM along with three other
missiles in massive show of force personally directed by Vladimir Putin.
Moscow’s strongman leader oversaw the launch of the missiles from a
command bunker, the Kremlin confirmed.

The ICBM launch was one of four in a massive Russia-wide exercise staged
in a huge show of force.
Submarines and bombers also took part in the drill – with the defence ministry saying "all the practice targets were successfully destroyed".
Russia has been modernising their missile forces, announcing last week
plans to test the so-called Satan 2 superweapon.
Global tensions remain on a knife edge amid fears a conflict between the
US and North Korea – potentially sparked by threats to detonate an H-bomb over the Pacific – could spiral into World War 3.
Missile forces oversaw the launch of the Topol-M at the Kura test range
from their base at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia.
Tupolev Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 bombers launched cruise missiles at
targets as part of the wide-ranging war drill.
"The exercise practiced interaction of the Strategic Missile Force, nuclear-powered submarines of the Northern and Pacific Fleets and
long-range aviation of Russia’s Aerospace Force," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
In a statement, the defence ministry said: “In accordance with the Armed Forces Training Plan the Russian Federation conducted training on the management of Russia's Strategic Nuclear Forces.
"To participate in the training, forces and means of the ground, sea and aviation component of the Strategic Nuclear Forces of the Russian
Federation were involved.”
It added: "From the State Plesetsk cosmodrome, the combat calculation of
the Strategic Missile Forces launched the launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile Topol on the Kura test range.”
Russian Army has been flexing its muscles by staging massive military
exercises
Russia fears being dragged into the growing war of words raging between
the US and North Korea.
Putin has called for calm in the region as both sides threaten the other
with fierce rhetoric promising death and destruction.
Tensions remain in place between Putin and Donald Trump over allegations
of election tampering by the Kremlin to swing it in favour of the now-US President.
NATO remains cautious as Russia stages major military exercises on its frontiers, which Moscow has repeatedly said are purely defensive.
