Let's see if LA can come through with some action.

Jesus Christ I detest team sports. Grown men throwing balls around
and people admiring same because of social conditioning.

Paraphrasing Slider, "Strike out and be an outsider". Be more
"evolved" in the euphemistic sense. Here's a test:

If you weren't conditioned by your father or uncle or your school
mates or whomever to admire a particular team of baseball players or
NFL players or whatever, would you have spontaneously admired them, or
the sports themselves, left purely to your own devices?

If you understand the question, and you answer that no, you would not
have gone down that path in absence of your father's, uncle's,
brother's or whomever's influence on you when you were small and impressionable, then - you are social conditioned.

In other words, you've been brainwashed.

You can never be an outsider, a loner, a true individual, a completely
self reliant human being, an independent and objective thinker, a
person who falls into the category defined by the stoics.

    You're cattle.

    ### - agreed about the brainwashing + ever see a film called 'Patty
    Hearst'?

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095836/

interesting scene(s) where they 'de-program' her and then re-program her
    again

perforce quite brutal to 'break-through' all that same brainwashing you're talking about that she'd endured in the course of her upbringing...
spoiled rotten little rich girl etc etc...

and perforce quite revealing about the nature OF that brainwashing to
    which everyone's been subjected!

good movie/required reading etc, enjoy :)

    than these idiocies.

But she's very cleverly carved out a fiscal empire for herself. She's
    very good at that.

    ### - she spent 25 years, originally, in the family court, so she knows 'people' and is highly experienced in dealing with them (iow: with
humanity, and all our fucked-up family foibles!) and then she moved to the civil courts/small-claims/people's courts for a total of more than 40
years experience in exercising civil law... to the point she can now
'read' people like a book! which, and as such, is actually very revealing
(to the discerning eye) about just how petty and fucked-up the vast
majority of people in fact are! (i.e., if you watch her in action bearing
all that in-mind, it can actually be very instructive/informative, mainly
about just how fucked-up people actually are but usually don't notice
because they themselves are just as fucked-up/brainwashed as the rest of
    'em hah;)

this isn't perhaps as-easy to understand/grasp as one might think, and is actually very revealing of a most fundamental flaw that exists among us
    almost entirely unconsciously...

for a 'fuller' education/explanation in this direction (an education the
vast majority miss-out on almost completely after all, something which
goes a long way to explaining just why everyone is so fucked-up in the
first place!) it's probably best (don't laugh) to start with a season or 2
of 'the dog whisperer' in order to see/understand/accept this most basic problem at its root, and, the often shocking (to many) realisation that
most dog-owners come to realise via that show, that 'they' in fact are the 'real' cause of all their pets bad behaviour! that there's never anything actually 'wrong' with the animals themselves! and that their pets
behaviour problems are always but always the direct result or the owners incorrect behaviour towards them! (people love their pets and are
accordingly usually quite dismayed/tearful to realise that what they've 'inadvertently' + 'unconsciously' been doing to their pets has damaged
    them...)

lesson 2 is an expansion of that theme to that of parents and their kids,
and how 'that' all goes wrong too and the kids end up as little monsters!
thus a season or 2 of shows like 'supernanny' (there's 2 or 3 shows all
like that, all revealing the exact same things...) in which it quickly
becomes apparent that there's nothing 'actually' wrong with the kids
themselves and that perforce it's all the 'parents' fault just how their
kids have actually ended-up like that! (more tears and breakdowns,
followed by far much better parenting and automatically better behaved
kids when those same parents finally come to realise/accept the negative
effect their 'own' crappy unconscious behaviour has been directly having
    on their own children!)

so are you beginning to see the trend here? :)

lesson 3, which then consolidates all of the above into an active working model, is then as many episodes of judge judy as one can possibly stomach, and/or until it finally dawns upon one just how 'crappy' our behaviour is amongst... ourselves! - JJ actually being very reasonable compared to the people (and their problems) she is forced to sort out!

iow: the dog whisperer reveals the 'problem' to us at its base in easy to see/accept clear terms, supernanny reveals/extends that same problem to
those same people and their kids, and JJ reveals how all those same
messed-up adults then badly behave with each other in society & why!

i know this is something you've always had particular difficulty with for
extra + perhaps personal reasons of your own thang, and for you to finally grasp/realise all the above 'might' come-in like a revelation to you! (as
it does for anyone actually, but perhaps even more so for you i mean...)

and here endeth the lesson for today heh ;)

    riiiiight... :)))

It *is* minor Slider. A mere observation, just an outlier to my inner
    philosophy. It ain't nothin'...

    ### - i don't think the benefits (from being an outsider/loner for
    example) ARE minor??

In truth, they are huge. Those who scorn these things because they
don't understand them are doomed to bleakness and a wasted life. The
benefits of being voluntarily different in these ways and then
observing just how brainwashed and obedient the masses are from this perspective, are very significant and tantamount to personal
    happiness.

I would have thought Dave would understand with his apparently once
endless quests for meaning and reality - all of which made him an
outsider relative to the general populace. I guess he's back on the
    team now :)

far from it in fact! that the results of having been 'brainwashed' are >exactly AS you described them! dire indeed! crucial! hardly minor
anyway... and jeremy is sarcastically demeaning/rubbishing everything you >said regarding it!?

They are indeed. People have a tendency to blindspots and self
delusion. The questions are right in front of everybody. The answers
are there to be found but take a little effort, a little disengagement
and a willingness to be as objective and trustless as possible.

or didn't you mean everything you just said about outsider-loners?

I meant every word. I live by that philosophy. I'll die by it too.

    strange :)

    Not at all.

outsider relative to the general populace. I guess he's back on the
    team now :)

    ### - i suggested precisely that to him once too several years ago to much scorn & ridicule on his part, so in truth he really *doesn't* understand
even the 'concept' let alone any practical application of same... he's ignorant! - hence his similar scorn & ridicule/sarcasm to your
comments/remarks on the same subject now...

he never 'left' the crowd, and/or never realised it if he did...

and just didn't appreciate being called "cattle" heh :)

(especially when 'sheep' would be more like it!)

far from it in fact! that the results of having been 'brainwashed' are

    strange :)

    Not at all.

    ### - it just seemed 'strange' that you suddenly 'reversed' your former assertion (but which you've just confirmed again above) and referred to it
as now being "minor", was all? - and was now suddenly 'agreeing' with the fool??

but apparently you *aren't* now reversing your former opinion (which
'would' have been very strange indeed in such a short period of time!) and
thus you must have merely misunderstood my original comment/remark to him
re his sarcasm: 'so because YOU don't understand something, that
    automatically
    makes it a minor affair??'

no biggie then between you & i - plus 'in yer' face' jeremy! hah! :D

    (he rubbishes 'everything/anything' outsider-connected/related! always
does! i.e., imho & observation; it's very important to him that there's NO
such thing as you (or i) describe else it directly means/implies that HE
must have made a mistake! and because he HAS indeed made a mistake
    concerning ALL that! huge!)

    but he'll NEVER admit it!

ever! - he's way too proud to ever do that!

he wont even LOOK at it!?

but don't take my word for it; test/try him yourself & see the response
    you get!

that 'because' HE doesn't know/accept anything about it; it MUST be
    rubbish!

so is utterly conceited about it as well!

and there's just 'no reasoning' with him about it either!

believe me i've tried; he's completely closed even to the very idea!

and is very ignorant about it! (starts throwing all-sorts of shite at'cha
& prevaricates like a wriggling snake!) - even to suddenly accusing ya of abandoning yer' kids?? wtf???

    i think nuts/deranged!
