Lol. He's changed rather a lot in the last 5 years, has he not? In
those days he was actually polite to Dave, you and everyone else. His
bitterness really only extended to Castaneda and some of his crew -
now it extends to practically everyone from what I observe.
I don't blame him though, I think largely a lot of it is due to simple
aging and the inability to defer the inevitable, which inevitable
becomes more and more apparent every day.
In other words, avoid mirrors like the plague :)

And I'm getting crankier by the day too. Not so much due to aging,
although that's part of it, but mainly due to the stupidity and
triviality of people which one seems to notice more and more as one
becomes older.
### - it's actually a kind of test to fathom if someone can see/accept the world for the way it really 'is' and still keep their cool, many can't unfortunately and they go literally nuts or go out on a rampage... others though (a rare few) somehow manage to keep their shit together and handle

the real question here being: what can (or should) be 'done' about all
this, what is the ultimate solution to such ignorance and the resulting primitive world we one day wake up and find ourselves surrounded by...
some say that it's only via education that things will change, that the
very nature of education itself perforce has to change if governments, and
the politicians that run them, are going to be different... others have suggested that it's only by scrapping the whole damn thing and starting
over that things will ever improve...
personally, i go with the education side of that debate, that's it's only ultimately via improved education that people will have different ideas
and aspirations and thus 'want' different things, this versus the forces
and powers that be that actively strive to keep things exactly the way
they are because it's better for 'them' personally and screw everyone & everything else!
meanwhile, the world is being run by gangsters... and imho this more than explains why everything about our world is so bad and so crummy, and is basically total shit...
the buddhists have a nice idea for example: that when a 3rd of humanity is actually enlightened, and another 3rd is on the genuine road 'to' enlightenment, then the last 3rd (all the pigs & fishes heh; the hardest
of all to become enlightened) will then be drawn up into it via a kind of siphon effect, and then all of humanity will between them create an
enlightened world...
the work involved then being that of setting as many people as possible
upon that genuine road to enlightenment so as to speed up/expedite the
process.
