"In general, combining reality testing with both Wake-Back-to-Bed and
MILD is effective at inducing lucid dreams in a 1 week period.
Participants in this group had an 84.5% increase in lucid dreaming
frequency in Week 2 compared to Week 1. Further, more than half
(53.2%) of these participants experienced lucid dreaming at least once
during Week 2, which suggests that this combination of techniques is a
fairly efficient and reliable method of inducing lucid dreams."

In my experience, Wake-Back-To-Bed and then intending to do LD
(similar to MILD) often worked fairly well. I didn't exactly do
that intentionally; I just noticed that - when I did do it -
naturally, often it did result in LD.

There exists in the world a single path along which no one
    can go except you:
    whither does it lead?
Do not ask, go along it.

four to six AM is your slam dunk time to wake
and go back to bed. Very easy to dream at this
hour, either regular dream or lucid dream.
Either way one has no trouble remembering
their experience. REM is at its peak at this
hour in the morning. Go with the flow fellow
journey-man. Row row row your dream boat
    right down the stream.

    ### - correction: it's not REM you go into from a wbtb but an unwitting
WILD (which is why they're so vivid and easy to remember...)

basically, it's impossible to go 'directly' into REM...

leastways not without first rewriting the book on sleep study ;)

There's a problem with this in my case. I'm usually out of bed on the
dot of 05.00 so if I'm up to piss or whatever at say 04.00 I will go
back to bed with trepidation because I know there's a countdown to
05.00. Best to sleep through and fuck the bladder...

My most productive time of day is from 05.00 through to around 11.00.
I work for money starting around 11.00 and back in the home at say
15.30 or so. I am not at all productive usually in the afternoon (productive=creative).

Dreaming to me is, and always has been, entertainment. My dreams
entertain me, they are colourful, dramatic, sometimes fucking scary,
symbolic, tense, casual, sexual - never boring, and never in black and
white. I love my dreams lucid or not. Sleep is definitely not a
    waste of time with me.

yeah that is a good way to approach--
enjoy sleeping and if dreams come
you go with them. Ride 'em out.
If sleep comes you get very rested.
Can't lose is the best attitude.
