Huge numbers of visitors have been pictured at England's beaches today (Wednesday, April 20) on what is the hottest day of the year so far.
After lockdown restrictions were eased, and day trips allowed, tourist
resorts have been bracing themselves for a surge of visitors.
And beaches around the country quickly became packed today.

Huge crowds were pictured at Bournemouth Beach, in Dorset, while one
Twitter user said there were so many people on Brighton Beach that it was
"like a scene from Baywatch".
Cars from "all over the UK", meanwhile, have been seen in gridlocked
traffic in north Devon, police said.
Officers tweeted that traffic heading to beaches was "exceptionally busy"
and that beach car parks were shut to new cars.

Police also warned motorists against abandoning their cars, saying that
they would be towed away as they were stopping ambulances and fire engines
from being able to get through crowded roads.
The scenes will despair many who are worried that the large crowds could
cause a second wave of coronavirus infections.
Restrictions on day trips were relaxed as scientists said that it was more difficult to pass on the virus outdoors, as long as social distancing was employed.
But this hasn't stopped tourist boards and police forces asking people to
stay away and stick to days out in their local areas.
