Huge numbers of visitors have been pictured at England's beaches today (Wednesday, April 20) on what is the hottest day of the year so far.

After lockdown restrictions were eased, and day trips allowed, tourist
resorts have been bracing themselves for a surge of visitors.

And beaches around the country quickly became packed today.

Huge crowds were pictured at Bournemouth Beach, in Dorset, while one
Twitter user said there were so many people on Brighton Beach that it was
    "like a scene from Baywatch".

Cars from "all over the UK", meanwhile, have been seen in gridlocked
traffic in north Devon, police said.

Officers tweeted that traffic heading to beaches was "exceptionally busy"
and that beach car parks were shut to new cars.

Police also warned motorists against abandoning their cars, saying that
they would be towed away as they were stopping ambulances and fire engines
from being able to get through crowded roads.

The scenes will despair many who are worried that the large crowds could
cause a second wave of coronavirus infections.

Restrictions on day trips were relaxed as scientists said that it was more difficult to pass on the virus outdoors, as long as social distancing was employed.

But this hasn't stopped tourist boards and police forces asking people to
stay away and stick to days out in their local areas.

With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane
If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane
If we weren't all crazy we would go insane

yep we are crazy, no doubt about it.
    Sane? not a chance comandante.

so here's the real 'stat' that nobody talks about
or perhaps they just don't know?

Out of the 100 billion people who have come and
gone on this earth (there has 108 billion--and
8 billion are still around) how many of those folks
croaked from natural causes and how many were
killed by another? We can't ever really talk about
sanity can we? Killing is business as usual on this
planet since i don't know when. We are fucking nuts
and it just don't look much like we are going to get
over that. "Can't win with a losing hand", ya sort
get what Zimmy means with this saying.

    over that.

    ### - haha true :)))

but we're more deluded than actually nuts...

1 in 4 indeed having some kind of genuine mental problems they's
strugglin' with, but the rest of us are more like little children
innocently believing in santa & the tooth fairy + accepting/defending all
that crap unquestioningly because that's all we know...

many do manage to grow up tho' in spite of all that and thus reach another level of (adult) understanding altogether, an understanding that isn't
quite so simple nor as straight forward as a kindly santa who brings us presents if we've been good... a much larger & inclusive world that does
indeed make a mockery of our rather childish/naive beliefs if/whenever we
look back at where we've been...

currently though, we are, at best, only visitors to that more adult world,
day trippers heh, but a day may dawn when the majority of human beings
embrace it en-mass, sanity will prevail...

and then we really will advance beyond the materially mundane ;)
