It’s the big bank holiday weekender — but not quite as we know it.
As much as we’d all love to be going outside to make the most of these
four days off, we’ll all be staying firmly indoors. Luckily, there are
some superb live-streamed gigs, festivals and DJ sets coming our way to
keep things lively.
From opera titans to clubland kings, it’s certainly going to be a varied weekend of music.
So settle into your sofa — or clear a bit of space in the front room to
have a dance — and tune into these live streams.

DIY Magazine is hosting a virtual festival this weekend, featuring live
sets from more than 20 artists. Marika Hackman, Pale Waves and Sports Team
are among those on the line-up so far.
House music label Defected has been throwing some hugely popular
live-streams over the past few weeks — racking up more than five million views so far — and are back for a third edition. Calvin Harris headlines under his Love Regenerator alias, with Black Motion, Claptone and more
also playing.
The famed opera singer has received special permission to perform live in Milan’s famous Duomo, accompanied only by the cathedral’s organist, delivering classics such as Ave Maria.
Among the countless venues forced to shut amid the outbreak, the Royal
Albert Hall is launching a new series of live-streams from artists’ living rooms. This weekend, Peter Gregson (Friday) and Alfie Boe (Sunday) are on
the bill.
Turn the volume up for this one — it’s a 60-minute live show from the Norwegian metal favourites, dubbed the “Kvelertak One Day World Tour”. There will be a Q&A with the band at the end, too. You’ll need to pay 100 Norwegian krone (around £7.90) to view this one.
### - should 'all' be free during this crisis no? fuckers charging 7.50
for it heh, they should do a free gig and, if they please everyone, peeps
would surely wanna support them and buy their shit no? could even have a
donate button!
anyway, that's not the point here, the real point being the starting-up of
free online gigs and shows that may well become the norm after all this
virus crap has finally passed eh?
the current above planned shows & artists not really being my cup of tea particularly, but is surely gonna happen at some point that some big
artist or another will wanna entertain all the peeps in the trenches! no?
(it's a great idea/genre that might have taken years to emerge otherwise!)
how's about some really famous bands doing an online streaming thing then, wouldn't that be cool eh?
the technical difficulties involved, accepted, that will perforce need to
be tested, tuned & perfected for it to all work correctly/well, shouldn't present too much difficulty these days where nearly everyone has fast connections? just imagine the views they might get?? (and even some
revenue from advertising as long as they don't flog it to death heh...)
it could become a whole new way of doing shit! :)
