Staying at home this weekend is an instruction and "not a request", Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said, as he updated the country on the
    coronavirus.

Speaking at the No 10 briefing, Mr Hancock said that while warm weather
was forecast in some areas this weekend "the disease is still spreading".

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52155430

It comes as latest figures showed a further 684 people with the virus died
in the UK, bringing the total to 3,605. There are 38,168 confirmed cases.

Mr Hancock - who recently ended his seven days of self-isolation after contracting the virus - said: "We cannot relax our discipline now. If we
    do, people will die.

"I end with the advice we all know. This advice is not a request - it is
    an instruction.

"Stay at home, protect lives and then you will be doing your part."

Mr Hancock also said the UK has set up three national clinical trials
looking at how existing drugs can be altered to treat Covid-19.

He added that more patients are needed to volunteer to take part in the
trials - but England's deputy chief medical officer later clarified that
people cannot apply themselves and it was up to doctors to refer patients.

It is the first time we've been given detail of clinical trials which are
under way in the UK to treat patients with Covid-19 and find out which medicines will help those who are sick.

At the moment there is no single proven drug to tackle coronavirus and a vaccine is still a long way off.

The trials involve patients from primary to critical care and more than
    900 people are already involved.

A word of caution though, even if clinicians give their patients the go
ahead to take part, it will probably take a few months for that data to be gathered and then made available.

    ### - fuckers... why don't they ask people coming in 'with' symptoms if
they'd like to take part in the trials or not and thus potentially save
dozens of lives into the bargain with the ones that DO turn out to have
    some effect??

but nooo, let's drag it all out over several fucking more MONTHS letting
people get worse and even die while 'they' take their time choosing who &
who isn't even to take part in some carefully controlled trials!?

oh i realise they have to have their precious 'protocols' to consider, but
this is an emergency situation with 100's if not 1000's of lives at stake??

683 MORE people DIED yesterday that might have survived!

if they're worried about the law, an 'exception' could be made for ONLY
these particular compounds with the sole purpose of treating THIS
particular disease under EMERGENCY conditions in an attempt to SAVE lives!

they can conduct their more 'carefully' controlled + time-consuming trials later!

but no, they wanna create & document an ACTUAL cure before they'll even
    release it at all??

    instead we get: "many months"

these aren't even dangerous drugs to begin with!

run the trials nationwide you cunts! give everyone a chance!

wtf is WRONG with these people!!!

geez and they're supposed to be... smart??

    damn them!

i sincerely hope that there's a reckoning after all this, ya know? i
    really do!

that let's say the chloroquine works really very well, and then they'll
all be exposed & strung-up for withholding it when they 'could' have so
easily made such a relatively harmless drug available much sooner instead
of insisting in applying strict protocols to it while 1000's of people's
lives literally hung in the balance at the rate of 600 per day & climbing??

and then ALL prosecuted from the top down for manslaughter and JAILED for
    not giving a flying fuck!

    damn them!

In a crisis like this the system is worthless unless strong
leaders step in and say just what you said to their colleagues.

I was there on the 9th to pick up my inhalers and I told you guys how sick the checkout girl was. I recognized the voice effect because I still had it too.

She stopped working four days later. Yikes.
Its been so long if I didn't already have it and don't now I'm OK.
