Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown said measures aimed at slowing the
spread of coronavirus, particularly in London, were necessary, but
stressed that all of the country’s resources should be used to tackle the crisis.

He told BBC Radio Four:
I think people have got to accept that at certain points, as we’ve done before, we bring in the Army to help us in certain respects.
I’m not advocating greater legal sanctions but I am advocating using all
the resources of this country.”
The ex-Chancellor added:
This is a global problem – it’s not just a national problem – it needs global action and not simply national action.
We’ve had too much of America first, India first, China first, we have had too much of this populist nationalism.
We’re finding that we’re connected whether we like it or not, we’re finding that we depend on each other whether we like it or not, and I
think people have got to put aside the differences they have and
international co-operation is absolutely vital to this.”
### - still some good things coming out of all this see? the above being
really quite correct in that it takes a global effort, rather than a
national one, to deal with things of this nature? (a typical left-wing 'inclusive/wider' view as opposed to a more insular right-wing
nationalistic one!)
the rallying statement of '"we're all in this together", although cute, actually applying to everyone worldwide and not to just any one one
country or individual... that this is no time to be internationally
insular!
that while we've all been talking in 'global' terms for quite a long time,
here now, today, is where that changed from just talkin' the talk to
walkin' the walk? such a genuine global effort not really being seen since
ww2!
some good news today too, being that yesterday that there were ZERO new
cases in china! (they actually recorded 10 new cases but these were all
from people 'returning' to china as opposed to anyone catching it there internally...)
meaning: it took 'em about 6-weeks of total lockdown to really bring it
all under control, and to the point where they've had zero new cases
yesterday (cool) so am guessing that's roughly what the rest of us can expect/have in-store over the following weeks then huh...
and 6-weeks ain't that bad really eh? not like it's 6-months anyway!
it's altering society too, as in after all this has passed peeps working
from home (if they can i mean) may even become the norm for example? and possibly quite a few other things too that might have taken us say another 20-years or more to get around to implementing otherwise?
iow; it's a kick up the behind from nature itself to tighten things up a
bit and to think in new + different, innovative ways :)
(poor old wallyworld is right under the cosh as the moment heh; we're
being 'hammered' into shape!)
