### - well, i dunno how ya's spent your xmas's but basically spent mines re-editing + re-uploading 'The Lucid Dream' vid with a different sound
track due to the unreasonableness (or scam) of the peeps currently
claiming copyright on someone else's work...
am not sure what's going on really, 'da I heard it records' says all their stuff is licensed under a creative-commons standard that allows sharing
and redistribution in any format as long as you provide the correct
attribution to the artists work and record company etc etc, something i
had no problem complying with, particularly after finding said backing
track on a royalty-free music site (was pretty careful about all that)
but... something's not right here? because 'Orchard Music' are still
claiming copyright even under that CC license?? so then i looked at the
record company's youtube listing of that same tune, and there it is, the
same song listed as 'again' being available and used under that particular license and yet openly also claimed by Orchard Music: even on their own
page??? wtf!
which can basically only mean that da i heard it records is working in
cahoots with orchard music and therefore knows exactly what's going on,
and either condones it coz they gets a cut (quite likely) or worse; are actually 'owned' by orchard music?? (which is what i kinda suspected originally)
iow: some websites offering new artists some kinda chance to have their
music heard, are, in reality, only doing so in order to acquire some kinda executive control over their copyrights (something they prolly agree to at signup in the small print) + get a service offering to monitor any misuse
of their property rights (sounds reasonable enough huh)
don't forget that their music is protected by a range of CC (creative
commons) licenses which they either opt into or out of depending on what
they want, this ranging from 'no protection at all' other than an
attribution (at least they gets their name mentioned and a link to their
home page or whatever kinda thing) right up to an all rights reserved,
most opting for having their music used and shared to varying degrees so there's a whole bunch of varying licenses... the song i'd used fully
allowing its usage according to its accompanying license, one chosen by
the artists themselves!
but orchard wont budge + da i heard it records have stopped replying, plus
no reply from the artists themselves either via their FB page, they saw my message but didn't reply, so either they don't understand (is a french
band) or they just don't care...
either way am fucked with tryin' anymore to keep on with that one track,
and even though it fucks things up some in lost views & hours (not that
many) plus the order they were published in (which affects any playlists),
have decided to dump the whole damn problem onetime by excluding that
track (and thus 'orchard') altogether...
so here it is again on a different link now, the same vid but with a
different backing track (not a bad backing track) not the one i
wanted/liked perhaps but good enough, and orchard music AND heard it
records can go feck themselves blue hah!
if i feels sorry for anyone tho' it's the artists who're being ripped off?
and in this instance being barred, because of these fuckers, from having
their music 'genuinely' heard/publicised, for free, to a potentially
fairly large audience should this little video ever turn out to be quite popular?
oh well never mind + better to change it now with only 90 hits than later
when it's gots 1000's eh?
those corrupt bastards ruin everything they touch innit eh?
