These are tragic times in California. While that pommy cunt Brian
Aherne "laffs" at these losses of life and property (including
irreplaceable photos, mementos, the minutiae of life etc), let me put
some perspective to these horrible times.

Australia is noted for the ferocity and frequency of its bushfires
(wildfires to you yanks). We have terrible fires which can, and do,
cause many many deaths in the worst ways imaginable.

The worst in my memory and I think in Australian history was the 2009
Victorian Black Saturday firestorm:

Entire towns were erased. The ambient temperature preceding the fires
was around 46C, for days. These fires killed 173 people. The towns
of Kinglake, Marysville, Narbethong, Strathewen, and Flowerdale were
completely destroyed. These were the highest ever recorded losses
from fire in Australian history.

Yet, these fires in California may well be worse than the Black
Saturday fires. Already, 42 are confirmed dead but there are HUNDREDS
missing. When a human body burns, quite often not even the bone
remains - just teeth. This may be one of the worst firestorms in
history, unless one goes back to the burning of entire cities in the
middle ages and before.

Yet, Brian "laffs". What a twisted soul.
