I understand. I don't trust you either. You don't even get how
rational discussion is supposed to work. A 'counter-argument'
for a dozen well-reasoned points seems to you something like:
"I ain't buyin it". Well, I ain't buying that, and no one should.

Actually, in his rough and tough way, he *does* make sense. He's
ex-military and they call a shovel a spade, no time for bullshit.

What he feels he tends to get out in the open and there's not much
point in pretending to misunderstand him as far as I can see. I'm
much the same way except I grew up with ex-military father, wasn't one
myself - fuck ambiguity, get it out and open and fuck
    misinterpretation.

I would trust Chris. I don't think he is the type to stab you in the
back, he'll put the knife in right in front and tell you why he's
doing it too. You can be a bit mealy mouthed sometimes though, let's
    face it.

And if he can digest a raft of words with the laconic statement "I
ain't buyin it", what's the difference between that and a two page
booklet with the same conclusion? You just want the grounds rather
than just the outcome - but if you're smart enough, you'll see the
other guys argument as well as him and you won't need him to spell it
out for you. Therefore, "I ain't buyin it" is perfectly ok.

Sam Harris began by arguing that because of their messed up
genetic heritage/circumstances criminals can't really control
themselves and thus aren't really responsible for their choices.

    I argued against that position.

i just wanna know why in hell you take all this
shit as though it is life and death ? why?

i think it's kinda of funny you and the ex-wifey
got into the warrior games so heavy.

This is like kids taking Harry Potter or
    Lord of the Rings seriously.

There might be a book there with all your ups
and downs with playing warrior games. You guys
were like brainwashed prior to meeting shorty.
Son of a bitch, what chance did you have?

maybe you want to relax it a little and just
kinda cruise through the rest of life and not
take shit sooooooooo seriously. Dude please.

If you really wanted a real answer to the
    question you asked...

I've written 10 pages of essays on the
subject of free will because I really do
find it a fascinating and vitally
important topic in philosophy and neurology - an issue having major real
life significance in many areas of life.

I write at length on topics in which I
    am genuinely interested.

You seem to have a limited experience of life's extremes. When
someone is dying of thirst in the Simpson Desert, for instance, the
last thing they will think about is whether free will brought them to
    that juncture.

Google Maslov's Heirarchy. You may know of it already. It's really
important to acknowledging the relevance of life's luxuries and life's exigencies and their contextual relationship...
