Greg removed his favorite jacket, the tan corduroy sportscoat with suede elbow patches that once belonged to Carlos, and threw it unceremoniously into the back seat of the car. It was time to move on.

It was never entirely fiction, and never entirely real either.
It was always a grandiose exaggerated combination of fiction
and reality with the wildest parts of the myth known only to CC.

Carlos never stopped playing that game. He kept giving the women
he wanted to fuck some "sorceric title", like calling Melissa
"the electric warrior", or calling Virginia "the usher". Or calling
Tiggs "the nagual woman". He gave roles and titles to all the
people he collected, and made up grand stories involving them
that contained small elements of reality within them.

In fact, Carlos *did* try to pull Dr. Angelica Duenas into
his web of mythical fantasies. He once claimed Duenas was the
granddaughter of some healer don Juan threatened to send him to.
It was another one of Castaneda's endless attempts to weave the
people around him into his myth.

Regarding all the weird lies Carol Tiggs told Amy after Carlos
died... Amy said Carol told her: ""Florinda's dead" on Tuesday,
"I'm going to see her" on Wednesday; "She's dead" again on Friday,
and "Anjelica (Duenas) is going to live with them" on Sunday.

Of course that's a lie too. Duenas didn't live with the witches.

With Carlos, it was always a good con, with just enough reality to
make the marks wonder. But never was it fully reality. No one
around him was ever immune from this.

Most people can't believe anyone would really act like that.
But I have seen it happen in real life on *multiple* occasions.

LowRider, for example, is the kind of person who does this. :)
He's not exactly like any of the others I've witnessed before,
but he has very similar tendencies.

The thing that's so obnoxious about you, Slider, is that you have
no real connection to Castaneda at all, yet you ensconced yourself
here for 20 years to badger the shit out of people who did.

For those who got deeply sucked into Castaneda's game, it's
important to be able to figure out what really happened.
Most people are not smart enough to understand it all
even when I paint the picture in front of their face.
It doesn't help when you try once again to blur it.

Most people cannot believe things like this really happen.
It is literally easier for people to believe strange cult lies
than it is to for them to comprehend the reality behind them.
    Weird, huh? :)

It was perpetual fictionalization, mythologizing all the real people
around him, confabulating magical events around them (actually a
common occurrence around entitled grandiose narcissists). Carlos got
away with his most outrageous claims partly by claiming that much
of what happened wasn't accessible to conscious memory (that's why
he came up with "heightened awareness").

Lowrider is gullible, that's all. He's probably well meaning in his
own way but he is extremely gullible. I really shouldn't take the
piss with him it's not fair, but I just can't help it when I see the
    nonsense he ejaculates.

He's harmless. He's not full of venom and spite like Brian.

Yep!!! Just like his bullshit forays with marijuana, probably never
smoked it but likes to talk about it as though he does and has.

He's full of it, up to his back teeth. No credibility.
