The 'Yanks' are STILL arresting hundreds of thousands for weed.
It has to be one of the stupidest most offensive things we've
ever done in this country (and are still doing).

ACLU - MARIJUANA ARRESTS BY THE NUMBERS https://www.aclu.org/gallery/marijuana-arrests-numbers

Of the 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010,
88% were for simply having marijuana. Nationwide, the arrest
data revealed one consistent trend: significant racial bias.
Despite roughly equal usage rates, Blacks are 3.73 times
more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana.

    ***

It's a bizarre form of persecution. And is much worse for non-whites.
And this ridiculous shit has been going on for decades and decades.
It's pure insanity. Plus, Trump and Sessions are still doing what
they can to make it worse even after several states legalized it.

I thought it was crazy all along starting back when I was a teen.
Damn near all my friends smoked pot, and pretty much all of them became successful members of society - lawyers, doctors, CPAs, engineers, entrepreneurs, etc. Yet they made us feel like criminals just for
getting high. We were the cream of the crop and the cops chasing
us were goddamned Neanderthals by comparison. Clueless assholes.
Fuck Jeff Sessions and everyone like him! :)

    ***

    It's still going on now.

Number of people arrested for a marijuana law violation in 2016: 653,249
Number of those charged with marijuana law violations who were arrested for possession only: 574,641 (89 percent)

    That's 2016. Well over half-a-million Americans arrested
just for smoking weed. That's totally nuts.

Proportion of people incarcerated for a drug offense in state prison
who are Black or Latino, although these groups use and sell drugs at
similar rates as whites: 57 percent. That's racist bullshit.

Number of states that allow the medical use of marijuana:
    29 + District of Columbia.

Number of states that have approved legally taxing and regulating
marijuana: 8 (Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts,
    Nevada, Oregon and Washington).

    ***

So while 8 states have fully legalized, over 80% of the states
still haven't. And in 40% you still can't even get medical yet.

The state I'm from, Oklahoma, doesn't allow recreational use.
But at least the law as of July 1, 2017 made all cannabis possession
charges misdemeanors. Oklahoma adopted a CBD-specific marijuana law.
This allows certain qualifying patients to use CBD products to treat
their chronic and/or debilitating conditions. These patients have
access to liquid preparation of CBD products, which may not contain
over 3/10 of 1% of THC.

However, no medical marijuana dispensaries are operational in
Oklahoma at this time to make legal purchases of CBD products.
They're putting medical on the ballot in Oklahoma again this June.

    ***

We're still just barely crawling up out of the long Neanderthal times.

tim leary got 10 fucking 'years' for just 2 roaches in the ashtray of his
    car for christsakes!

they are clearing people of "priors" that pertain to weed charges.
Cleaning their records so there is no history of dope conviction.
Poor Timmy, goes to fucking prison for a couple of joints.
Then has to escape prison. On the run for awhile and then
gets free. No easy way to be free is there? son of a bitch.
The way things are going we all are going be lynched.

    ### - they think/suggest the thals were here for around half a million
years before we ever arrived, so they were actually very successful? plus,
for all our seeming 'intelligence, i doubt we'll ever last as long as they
    did!

personally, i think we have rather asinine views of so-called stone age
peeps & neanderthals, who were quite obviously far more in-harmony with
nature than we'll prolly ever be? and were similar, perhaps, to native americans and the australian aborigines, who, in our sheer arrogance, we immediately looked down on enough to justify systematic their genocide??

and because it turns out that we just didn't *understand* their ways!
(didn't even bother checking it out actually, so convinced, as we were,
that 'our' familiar ways were obviously + self-evidently far much better
than theirs? riiiight... when in truth we were/are the barbarians by comparison?)

and which is why i 'still' think that what happened in s.africa via
mandela IS fascinating AND quite possibly points the way?

    ### - oh that's sooo nice of them innit! (sarcasm heh...)

will they also appropriately compensate people for jail time served, the
prison rapes, & the demeaning brutality they were exposed to upon arrest?
plus what about all those fines peeps had to pay; will they also be
returning those too?? yeah right! (slider quickly peeps out the window to
see if hell really 'has' frozen over heh... hah nope!) plus what about all those 'careers' that likely went out the window too because of their now
    having convictions?

Poor Timmy, goes to fucking prison for a couple of joints.

    ### - for a couple of 'dead' roaches ya mean! (actually that was just the excuse used to arrest and imprison him on; the fairly reasonable appeal
judge switched literally right at the last moment at the behest of the government to a known hanging-judge type, commenting: "do you 'realise' mr leary that some of that 'acid' you introduced to our generation of
children even ended up on the streets of india?? appeal denied!" and even 'added' time onto his original sentence for his cheek of appealing! (iow:
they fitted him up because they were so angry at him...)

Then has to escape prison. On the run for awhile and then
gets free. No easy way to be free is there? son of a bitch.
The way things are going we all are going be lynched.

    ### - rumour has it that tim escaped (they still can't actually explain
'how' he escaped?) by somehow going down a telephone wire or something??
heh, and that the black panthers then assisted by getting him outta the country, whereon he actually got as far as afghanistan before being
rearrested and brought back to jail... and only for jimmy carter, who
pardoned him upon his inauguration, tim would have undoubtedly defo served
his full term + some for escaping!)

"We still live in a very primitive & barbaric world!" (Sic...)

    heh ;)
