It almost looked as if they weren’t going to manage it.
Israel’s Netta Barzilai, who had for so many weeks in the run-up
to the competition been the runaway favourite, must have had her
confidence shaken in the last week, as Cyprus, France, Norway and
Lithuania all suddenly looked like real contenders for the trophy.
But in the end, there was no beating Netta’s combination of quirky chicken-themed dance moves, playful lyrics and a powerful vocal
performance in the upbeat pop song Toy.

Escalating tensions between Israel and Iran took an unexpected turn
on Sunday when the Defense Minister issued a Eurovision-themed
warning to Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Khamenei that you are not his toy. He has no business in Syria,"
Avigdor Lieberman tweeted, following Israel's win at the contest
