We have recorded history for what, the last 5-10K years? Ambulatory
life has been extant on this planet for the last 600,000K years - that
makes our recorded history only 0.00002 of the timespan of moving
    animal lifeforms on this rock.

With Babylonian trig so evolved ~4k years ago, what's transpired
without surviving records say over the period 150K to 50K years ago?

Who knows what we've lost and what we may never regain...

Note: base 60 instead of base 10.

The loss of the Library at Alexandria was an unspeakable tragedy.
It was THE major repository of knowledge of the ancient world.

The loss of the ancient Library at Alexandria was a terrible tragedy.
It may have contained thousands of such wonders.
