so i had this great uncle, was my grandmother's
sister's husband. so no real relation to me or
my side of the family. (as though that matters)
in fact these dudes were about the only real in-laws
we had or that we saw. i remember visiting these
folks up in LA or they would come down to groovy
Santa Ana in the 50's and 60's. The uncle would
usually just drink his whiskey and sit back and laugh
at everything. Every once in a while he would tell
these stories about his time in Missouri. I guess he
came from a blacksmith background. Although his present
day job was that of a pest control operator. Yeah he
sprayed for ants and roaches and shit. Great job, alot
of work available here in the Los Angeles basin area.
Tell me stories about the Ku Klux Klan guys. It was
like it was given organization. Can you imagine? It
was part of the milieu. Son of a bitch, that would be like
saying yeah he got them there nazis down there having meetings.
He definitely was a witness to the weirdness, no doubt about it.
He passed away one year back in the 70's i think, poor guy.
I think he most likely drank himself to death. What a great way
to go eh? So i was sitting out in the backyard this afternoon
sipping on a Jack n' Coke. Couldn't help but think about him
and my great aunt. Funny how you remember shit like that but
it's all part of the past, can't forget your old experiences.
