A staunch anti-vaxxer priest has died from Covid after a month-long
struggle with the virus in hospital. [images of this dude dressed in full church regalia]

Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia and Acarnania, in western Greece, had
refused to be vaccinated against the virus.

The 76-year-old was admitted to hospital in Agrinio on December 1 after
testing positive for Covid-19, before later being moved to an ICU room at
the capital’s Evangelismos Hospital.

His ICU admission sparked controversy among his critics, following reports
that he was given a priority bed over other patients.

This claim was eventually dismissed by authorities, it was reported.

Kosmas was known to be a staunch anti-vaxxer and an outspoken critic of government measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Measures he had vocally opposed included mask use and vaccination,
according to the Greek Reporter.

Kosmas had lashed out at those who were reluctant to attend a packed
church during a sermon in 2020, branding these people “unfaithful”.

He said: “God does not allow you to be infected. God does not infect!

“It is a holy place, the temple is heavenly,” he said.

And last year, Kosmas was summoned by the Holy Synod to explain himself
over what they called his “disobedience and disrespect of the unanimous decision of the collective body of the Church of Greece”.

This “disobedience” regarded his failures to act in accordance with the coronavirus health measures during the Easter period.

The cleric’s 75-year-old sister, who was also unvaccinated, also died of Covid-related complications on December 13.

Data released late last year suggested unvaccinated people are 32 times
more likely to die from Covid than those who have been jabbed.
