• Synchronet BBS Question

Do all of the servers work out of the box with Synchronet? That is does telnet, ssh, http, https, irc, smtp, nntp all work after a fresh install on a ubuntu server?

If you have Apache installed it will jump in front on SBBS and steal the
port 80 so make sure that's not happening.

Hmmm. I suspect this is where the problem is. Is there a way to remove Apache from havens.synchronebbs.org? Suppose synchronetbbs.org is the domain registered with letsencrypt.org which runs off an Apache server?

By default, https uses a self-signed certificate. So yes, https works "out of the box", but your browser may make it difficult to see https content that way.

No, you get the bbs on port 80, and your apache is on 2000&2001. It has no effect on SBBS just by being installed.. If letsyncrypt is set up ad working SBBS should answer on 443 as well...

The apache2 config on his system has apache using ports 2000 and https on port 2001... His SBBS should be able to use ports 80 & 445, and he confirmed that http://havens.synchronetbbs.org goes to the BBS as it should...
