I have noticed lately that everyone yes me included have been going off-topic about a lot of issues not pertaining to Synchronet BBS in any way shape or form. I apologize for myself though as for the others that's completely up to them.

It seems that everything I do on Dove-Net seems to be a constant
challenge here for some reason.
When I ran my BBS as a Sysop back in the olden days my users
enjoyed the entertainment I had provided them. They were grateful
that they had such a person in their lives. But now it seems like
a nagging wife like my ex-girlfriend was at one time. I left her
for that same reason. I am a conversationalist and a philosopher.
I love to express the wonderful things that we are blessed with
every day on the Earth. Dove-Net has been my home here since the
last decade.

easy up there, fella... have some empathy and put yourself in others' shoes... i know exactly what TM means... i've grown up with computers... they are much easier to deal with than trying to interact with other humans... they don't bitch, gripe or complain... as a programmer, i reset

Attaboy. Keep blocking. Eventually you'll be talking to yourself. Just how many people do you think are left in BBS land??

I'm not going to quote everthing you said. Do you guys think you invented isolation? My ex-wife couldn't compete with my love for computers and my dem for being online. I stopped going to family functions and spending time with kids. I still spend my entire days with my head buried in my keyboard. Now I it alone. And to be honest. I prefer it that way. What I don't do is post multiple messages a day just to get attention. He's not even talking to the group. All he's post's are "Hey DM blah blah ". He's only interested in what has to say. Boy you guys would have got a beating back in the Flame Wars day ;-). You had to read 50 flames a day just to keep up. Hey man.. If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.
I have my ways of blocking people but DM looks like he's hiding from me. He hangs out at menus instead of posting or reading messages like he used to before. Now he does it after I'm gone instead of while I'm here. You know

I haven't seen them or is it they haven't seen me? in over 10
years. Kids will always side with their mom even when Mom is
wrong. Mom was teaching them to Lie to me when they were very
young. I can't and won't tolerate that. Either way my point is
I'm a happier person spending all my time behind a keyboard. My
PC won't lie to me. It's always there for me and makes no demands
of me. I'll bet the rent I'm not the only one that feels this way
;-). Most of my friends and former Co-workers are the same way. I
know one network admin that hates both light and people.

Since he isn't running a BBS yet, I'm not sure how he's actually
blocking people.

dude, you are completely misinterpreting what you are seeing... he is simply idling on the BBS like many of us do... like is also done in
IRC... hell, if you look at tony's system, there are times it says he's downloading QWK messages for 80someodd hours... he's not... in any
case, this is normal in today's world... rather like being on AIM, ICQ, discord and other similar live chat systems...
Wow! Synchronet Discussion has just surpassed the 10,000+ mark! Keep it up people! It's the biggest area on Dove-Net so far. :-)

It passed the 10K mark years and years ago. It's almost at 18K on my BBS and my history only goes back to 2015.
I don't think anyone actually has a full archive of everything, as Synchronet is configured to limit the number of mesages per message base. I believe it defaults to 1000.
I noticed that SD is a little quiet this summer. Interesting.
Well in topics and chatter I find it to be a little slower than last summer. It was busy as hell then.

It goes in bursts. It doesn't really matter what time of year it is, somtimes it's slow, sometimes it's not.

We're in a bit of a lull with all online and social connections. Everyone is a little burned out on only connecting with people online after the spring, and want to get out and socialize during the summer, even if that's not the wisest of ideas. I expect we'll see more activity come October.
It seems Dove-Net activity overall is actually more than usual these days. I figured it was due to people being at home more due to the COVID situation.
