It's hard to choose just one with all those options. I've been into computer games for a long time, and some of my favorite kinds are real-time strategy (Warcraft, Warcraft 2, the Command & Conquer series), simulation (SimCity, Civilization, etc.), 3D
shooter (Duke Nukem 3D, the Unreal Tournament series, etc.).. Sometimes I like
racing games too. In the late 90s, I had a 3DFX Voodoo card, and later a Voodoo 2, and one of the games I liked playing that supported 3DFX was Need For
    Speed 2 SE. And one
of the cheat codes in that game let you make the cars in front of you crash by honking your horn. More recently, I've tried Assetto Corsa Competizione, which
I think is a fairly good PC racing game.

As far as card games & board games, I like Pictionary, Guesstures, Bullshit (card game), Cards Against Humanity, and sometimes Monopoly and others.

I've always really enjoyed pinball games too. A couple of my other favorite arcade games were Ironman Stewart's Super Off Road and Joust. Console video games: The Super Mario Bros. games, the Mega Man series, Donkey Kong Country, Sonic the Hedgehog,
    etc..

Well, my thing is sport. Track and field these days. :)

As for electronic games, it depends on the era and platform.

    Early arcade - Space Invaders
    80s arcade - Galaga
PC - I liked to keep things imple, probably tetris.
Mobile - Asteroids or Angry Birds.

BBS - I only ever really played BRE, but not seriously.

Never was much of a gamer.

There's a few things that could be happening here, but I think one critical point is that some of these messages are UTF-8 encoded and you're running versions of SBBS and SBBSecho which don't know how to handle UTF-8 encoded messages.

So I would definitely recommend upgrading both to the latest in CVS and then see what we see. I know MM doesn't yet support UTF-8 encoded messages in QWK, but the latest code in CVS handles that: you can configure from the QWK menu whether or not your
reader supports UTF-8, and if not, any UTF-8 encoded message headers or text should be converted to CP437 automatically during QWK packet creation.

That's been on the todo list for a while, but not sure when I'll get around to it. :(

That will probably help with a few things. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do it soon, but there's a lot of stuff in that thing called life going on. :/

Weird.. I've made updates to SlyEdit to not wrap new text at 80 columns (though quoted lines would be the width of the user's terminal). I got some replies from people saying my messages looked good. Just a couple days ago, I updated my Synchronet
binaries.. I'm not sure where the issue is.

This message is not UTF-8 encoded. However, when you replied-to and quoted The Millionaire's messages, some of his contained UTF-8 text, though the message was not tagged as containing UTF-8 text. That's why it looked like garbage to most of us. But that'
s now been fixed in ec's webv4 (in github).

Anyway, when you quoted his UTF-8 message text and saved your message using an external editor, Synchronet scans the message to see if it's valid UTF-8. Even though only the quoted text contained UTF-8, you didn't add any non-UTF-8 (e.g.
    CP437) ex-ASCII,
so your entire message was determined to be valid UTF-8 and flagged as such.

I appreciate you're trying to help. However your message contained a quoted tear-line, so everything after that was considered a "tail" to the message and SBBSecho will only import up to 1024 bytes of "tail" (normally message tags and
    origin lines).
Synchronet's editors and tools usually convert existing tear-lins (e.g. from "---" to "===") when quoting or gating to another network-type. I'm not sure what editor or BBS software you're using, but it sounds like it needs some work
    in the area of tear-
    line detection/conversion.

I know, I have my own problems recently introduced which I'm working on too. Thanks for your help,

see what we see. I know MM doesn't yet support UTF-8 encoded messages in QWK but the latest code in CVS handles that: you can configure from the QWK menu whether or not your reader supports UTF-8, and if not, any UTF-8 encoded message headers or text should be converted to CP437 automatically during QW packet creation.

so are these blank msgs i'm seeing due to them quoting utf8 msgs from millionaire?

on vert my qwk acct is rigged to NO for include utf-8 chars

Indirectly, but it was a bug or on my end.

    Good. Should be fixed now.

I made a reference to ugly formatted messages. This is an example from you, as I saw it. This started recently - in the last couple of weeks.

Weird.. I've made updates to SlyEdit to not wrap new text at 80
columns (though quoted lines would be the width of the user's
terminal). I got some replies from people saying my messages looked
good. Just a couple days ago, I updated my Synchronet binaries.. I'm
not sure where the issue is.

DM offered some possible hints, but this message looks good. :) In any case, I do need to update from CVS when I get a chance. :D

This message is not UTF-8 encoded. However, when you replied-to and quoted The Millionaire's messages, some of his contained UTF-8 text, though the message was not tagged as containing UTF-8 text. That's why it looked like garbage to most of us. But that's now been fixed in ec's webv4 (in github).

Anyway, when you quoted his UTF-8 message text and saved your message using an external editor, Synchronet scans the message to see if it's valid UTF-8. Even though only the quoted text contained UTF-8, you didn't add any non-UTF-8 (e.g. CP437) ex-ASCII, so your entire message was determined to be valid UTF-8 and flagged as such.

Is there anything that an editor (such as SlyEdit) can do about that?

Don't worry about it right now. Wait till the dust settles on the internal stuff first and then we'll see what problems remain that an editor might need to handle. My plan is of course to keep working with legacy editors that have no idea what UTF-8 is
or how to handle it, so that should include your editor too until such time as you decide you want to support UTF-8 explicitly.

OK. Please let me know if/when you have any suggestions that SlyEdit could do to better handle UTF-8/CP437.
