• Long File Names

From Alterego@1:229/2 to All on Monday, August 19, 2019 13:15:07

    Howdy,

To what extent does SBBS work with long filenames? (Especially those that arrive inbound via a TIC distribution, and the tic filename is long too?)

I've received a few files and while tickit seems to handle that OK - push the file into the right file area and leaving the name intact, I've noticed that my
filename lists are at bit out of wack...

    Here is an example:
    1-1_grd1.-en A FREE-roduction_to_linux_for_users_and_administr.pdf 1457897
    LPIC-1 Pt 1:
Introduction to Linux for Users & Administrators

The filename is actually: 1-1_grd1-en-manual_-_introduction_to_linux_for_users_and_administr.pdf on disk

As a user of the BBS, I cannot download it, I'm assuming because the name is messed up...

Cannot add 1-1_grd1.-en to queue -
    File is not online.

So what do I need to do here?

It would be great if Synchronet supported the long name (maybe I havent set this up properly?), or if not, it let me know that it cannot process it (or something)...

On *nix, none at all. The filebase only supports 8.3 formatted names currently.

It's in a significant change and it's in the works.

That’s an important feature to have.
