Rob,

Yes, and Mac support is not a forgone conclusion either.
With Microsoft ending support and security updates for Windows 7 in January, 2020...I was able to finally go to the local Best Buy, and
purchase 3 copies of Windows 10 Pro, 32-bit (had to be that, not only
for the BBS, but for other programs). Aside from making a backup of the data, anything special I need to consider when I reinstall Synchronet
3.17?? It won't be done until sometime this fall.

You don't really need to re-install Synchronet, just copy the files. Anyway, DM>here's the FAQ:

I seem to remember reading some posts years ago where some sysops got Synchronet to build on Mac OS X? Maybe they had to make changes that didn't make it into the official codebase though..
Yes, I got Synchronet to compile on Mac OS X about 6 months ago. At DM's request, I compiled a list of the changes that were necessary:

The main hangup for me is the lack of Mac support for dosemu. If I were to port my BBS from the Linux VM to my actual Mac, I would only do so if I could continue to run DOS doors.
For a while I was working with the project maintainer and we made a lot of progress, but things fizzled. I need to get that going again.

Since the base of OS X is Darwin (a varianet of BSD), I'm a little surprised that dosemu wouldn't work on it. I'd think there would be a way to get dosemu to compile/build on it.

It doesn't run under FreeBSD, either. It's designed with many Linux-specific dependencies that don't exist on the Mac or on FreeBSD.
