Without fileboxes, you can't simply just copy a file into a FidoNet outbound directory and have it appear on the remote. That's the purpose of fileboxes. Instead, you need to add the filename to the FLO file as documented in the link above.
Hi all,
I'm struggling to find clear answers on how one manages separate inbound & outbound folders in BinkIT.
My use case is an InterBBS door (and this is my first run through this, so I figure my problems are inexperience-based) that simply
creates files in an FTN outbound directory, and expects to find files in an FTN inbound directory.
The FTN node that I'm supposed to connect to/from is on fsxNet, and it's not my regular fsx Hub. So, while I have all echomail and
netmail working fine with my fsx Hub, I have added in this specific fsx Node via echocfg simply for firing these interBBS files
back & forth to.
I can connect to this node when running 'jsexec binkit -l 21:1/10' just fine, and it fired a bunch of files my way. However, while
I have specific Inbox and Outbox Direcories configured for this node, BinkIT ignored them and instead used the global
../fido/inbound directory to drop the inbound files to.
I get the feeling from the Help wording on those options that they may only relate to BinkD usage, not BinkIT?
When using BinkIT, how does one go about handling getting files from an external program like a game to a specific node? If it's
documented, I haven't quite got it after looking at the sbbsecho, binkIT, echocfg and FAQ wiki pages.
I've gone hunting through the echos here as well and while I see references to possible domain subdirectories, my system hasn't
created any, doesn't appear to want to use any, etc.
I'm sure I'm missing something pretty straightforward - any direction would be appreciated, thanks!
