It's likely related to displaying the sender's avatar. Not sure what the best way to fix it will be.

I tried several different clients including putty and telnet that comes with Windows 10 and I am having
the same issue.

Do you see this warning when reading all messages, some messages, only after you've viewed one message, or any other pattern that you've noticed?

Do you have a text/msghdr.asc file on your system? If so, have you modified it?

PuTTY and the Windows Telnet client are not the best for BBSes. I'm not sure they can properly render ANSI, at least not without some additional configuration.

Try making your window size bigger? Is your terminal screen width 80+ columns? Or there's a problem with the avatar it's trying to display. Do you get the error with other message authors' avatars?

I think SyncTerm is the very best...you see any animation, and for
SBBS Sysops, it automatically enters their Sysop password at logon.
Plus, the time on QWK packets, etc. is correct -- the MTel program does
it in UTC instead.
