I don't have much experience with door games (yet), but I have an idea where I need your experience:

It's fairly easy.

In the last days, I got the idea to search for door games that I could install in my BBS which could be played together, so that some people are online in parallel (on my different nodes) and play simultaniously.

What OS are you using and what version of Synchronet?

So my question is: What games would you recommend for people to play who don't have much (well, mostly: no) experience in BBSes or door games?
It should be possibl to play the games "live", because we mostly have a Jitsi or Zoom conference open on another device to talk while playing.

I'm not sure I really understand the question, I don't think any experience in BBSes are required to play any door games, most are pretty easy and usually come with a Help menu on how to play. As far as recommending doors to install, that's really going
to depend on what you as a sysop wants and what your users will play.

As far as setting up a door, once you get one or two setup, they're pretty easy afterwards and aside from yourself, none of the other players/users will have anything to do with setting it up.

Until the start of the pandemic, we had a little group of (mostly non-tech) people who gathered every 2 weeks in the "real world" to play games, mostly board or card games.

Since then, some are meeting online to play some games on sites like "brettspielwelt.de", a german site where you can play board games in the browser or via a Java client.

In the last days, I got the idea to search for door games that I could install in my BBS which could be played together, so that some people are online in parallel (on my different nodes) and play simultaniously.

So my question is: What games would you recommend for people to play who don't have much (well, mostly: no) experience in BBSes or door games?

I'm using Synchronet 3.18b on Linux, and dosemu seems to work (I'm just installing it and the demo version of Global War seems to start *g*).

Well, then let me rephrase it:
My impression is that many door games like TW2002 have some kind of steep learning curve.
At least I have the problem that many RPGs and the like are too complex for me to start with.
That's one problem: N00bs like me aren't attracted to games that have tons of options to choose from and complex menu structures and character evolution and all that.

The other problem, or the other part of the question, is:
I'm searching for games that can more or less be played simultaniously with different people logged in into the BBS at once.

Just like a real "game night" with (simple) board or card games where almost anyone even without deeper insight into the games can join and play while all people take part in a Jitsi or Zoom call.

As far as setting up a door, once you get one or two setup, they're pretty easy afterwards and aside from yourself, none of the other players/users will have anything to do with setting it up.

That's not the problem - the problem is to choose the right ones :)

The only way to choose the right one(s) is to know your players and check out some games .. there is a nice collection with mostly adequate decsriptions here: http://www.tinysbbs.com/files/doors/

There are *so* many door games. So of my favorites:
- Global War (Risk, basically)
- Jeopardized (Jeopardy, multi-player)
- Minesweeper (biased, I wrote it)

Popular multi-player doors:
- Legend of the Red Dragon (LORD)
- TradeWards 2002 (TW2002)
- Barrent Realms Elite (BRE)

Actually, I am not much into games, unless we include playing head games with my cat :) But, ya, if you're running Linux don't expect to get TW2002 working under dosemu too easily, if at all. So, like I said, game choices are relative, for instance, I am a long haul truck driver by trade so I like playing Super Rig. I also play TW2002, Global War, LORD Quest for Nora, etc.

You're right, I am a simple person with simple interests and a diminutive way of doing things :)

mcmlxxix's system (bbs.thebrokenbubble.com) seems to be up and down a lot lately. He's still around, but not as attentive to his BBS. :-(

Depending on which game it is, you can try pointing to bbs.electronicchicken.com instead, ec might be hosting those same games.

I'm currently looking through the games in sbbs/xtrn and am also working through some BBS door game collections on the web...

By the way: Is "The Broken Bubble BBS" still online? The global highscore server configured in some /sbbs/xtrn doors does not seem to be available...?

Depending on which game it is, you can try pointing to bbs.electronicchicken.com instead, ec might be hosting those same games.

I tried that, but there are still some that echicken does not host :)
I've set up my own JSON service locally for those.
