• Setting up a file echo

    Good afternoon,
I am looking for the documentation for setting up an FTN file echo so that
I can pass along files from my hub to a node that I am a hub for. I
checked the wiki and was not able to find anything, partially because I am
not sure which program it is that even handles those.

Could someone point me in the right direction? This is my first experience with FTN file echos, so don't be afraid to dumb it down, either. :)

    Thanks!

I have seen hatchit.js in my exec directory. I have not ever tried to use it so I can't say anything about it, aside from the fact it is there.

I just ran it with jsexec and a pick list of file areas was show, so maybe that is what you need.

If you're running Synch, you have two options. Use it's internal tickit.js and hatchit.js or, as I do, use Husky's htick.

    For tickit.js, go here: http://wiki.synchro.net/module:tickit

For Husky's htick, go here: http://www.textfiles.com/fidonet-on-the-internet/husky/htick.htm#dir

mike, if tickit can operate in HUB mode, then it should do the job for you... otherwise, something like allfix (may be overkill for your needs) in files.bbs mode would work but you'll have to run a special command to update the BBS file areas from the files.bbs files...

I half-way think maybe hatchit is a way to "hatch" files to others manually. I want to be able to have them come in from my hub and automatically get sent to any connections that are linked to the file echo.

Oh! I thought you wanted to hatch a file out. If you want to pass on incoming files and tics tickit will do that. :)

if fidonet you need to be a nc or r to pass out fdn (files) - I'em nc 340 in fidonet

I use tinytic for inbound & allfix for outbound

I just ran it with jsexec and a pick list of file areas was show, so maybe that
    is what you need.

Well, it could be a start anyway. It showed me a list of my file areas,
not a list of files I receive from my hub. It also eventually got to an
empty menu, so I think something is missing. :)

sounds like it doesn't know what areas are networked together...
