What door games were the largest in size with regards to areas to explore or took the longest to beat? I am excluding running external Dos or Linux rogue (nethack) and text interpreter games as I want to focus on programs that were intended to be run on a BBS.

Have you tried either of Shooter Jennings' recent games? Both seem pretty big to me, with lots to explore.
I always liked Operation Overkill ][, although I'm not sure if it
falls into the category Dos or Linux rogue games. It is dos based and
comes with several maps that will each take time to complete.
yeah that's a popular one but some parts run funny on today's computers and over telnet

pretty sure he wants to run them on his own system and most people
dont run wildcrap. also arent those games just on the operator's bbs and not for download?
Yes, they are his own games, hosted on a central server.
But neither of those questions has anything to do with OP's original query, which was "what door games were the largest".
