Well that's the gateway software I am running. I thought binkp.net had usurped the role of fidonet.org as the latter had been lost to squatters while the former is a service offered to all who sign up?

You're thinking of fidonet.net. fidonet.org has never supported f<node>.n<net>.z<zone> style DNS lookups.
