• Missing messages?

    From Jeff Smith@21:1/128 to All on Sunday, June 24, 2018 06:50:52

    Hello everybody!

    Another peculiar situation that I have come across with a fresh install of Mystic
    A39. (On a different PC) A problem that I am not sure what is causing it. I am using
    the readmail script to login to Mystic and read mail. There are only a few message
    areas at this point. One of the existing areas is the netmail area. The peculiar
    thing is that there is more messages listed than there are messages to actually

    read.

    IOW, there are 5 messages that are listed as existing in the netmail area. But if I
    open up (Select) the netmail area there are only 3 messages that I can read.

    I watched a new netmail be received by Mystic. Saw it imported by Mutil and labled
    as a new netmail. But when I load the reader script. The new netmail IS listed as an
    additional message for the netmail area. But when I select the netmail area that new
    netmail isn't listed as existing. So far this situation is only being seen in the
    netmail area as that is the only area getting received mail. Any thoughts?

    Jeff

    An update. I installed Golded as a message reader on the PC in question
    and Golded sees all the messages and allows me to read all the messages.

    I did try recompiling all the scripts just in case that might have been
    a factor. But it didn't help. I also logged into Mystic directly avoiding
    the reader script to read the messages and the same messages were missing.

    Not sure if it's a Mystic thing or a reader script thing

    Who are the messages addressed to? Mystic will not show any private message to anyone except the recipient of the message.

    You might need to enable the forward keyword in your mutil.ini that you use to import incoming mail

    forward = sysop;Jeff Smith
    forward = coordinator;Jeff Smith

    You may need more too.. :)

    Are the netmail messages addressed to you? If they aren't, Mystic will not
    show them to you.

    The netmail is not addressed to you. So you may see the count higher than you can read..

    In this case all the netmails are either one's that I have written or are netmails that are responses addressed to me.

    The odd part is that Mystic and the reader script don't display all the netmails but Golded displays the missing messages fine.

    No they weren't. It was a fresh install of Mystic to be used as the regional Fido system. I had written some of the netmails and the rest were addressed to
    me.
