• welcome.anX

Did this change? I checked the wiki, it said it was "logonX.ans" now. I
changed the old filenames to reflect this, and all it did was display them
one after the other on login.

For some reason using "logon.anX" or even having the correct format for *any* text file to display with .anX isn't displaying anything now. Anyone else
    have this issue?

I noticed something like that also, I created a second preuser.anX file and
it just showed it after the original. It was weird to me as I took the docs
to mean that it would randomly choose one..

Same, but my issue is still happening. No more welcome.anX display. It's
weird. I don't usually see it though, because I just fast login to the main menu.

    [snip]

LOGON1-9 .XXX - Displayed in order from 1 to 9 after a user
    successfully enters their password.

    [snip]

The above works for me. So if you want certain screens to display in sequence on login you can use this approach and save files as ANS and/or ASC

Nope... I have LOGON1.ANS on my Windows Mystic and it's working fine..

Just so I'm clear... is the problem with files not displaying prior to the login prompt or after you supply name/password ?

Yeah, it displays sequentially though. The welcome.anX format was for random welcome screens, shown once on login. That isn't working anymore, not since (I'm assuming) a39.

Yeah, LOGON1.ANS, LOGON2.ANS, etc, all work great, if you want a sequential
set of logon screens. It's just welcome.anX that seems to be busted.

After successful login. According to the Mystic wiki, this should work, as
it's the format needed. I haven't changed it since installing Mystic back in like 2014, except to add baud emulation and pausing and stuff. It's worked
for year, and I just realized that since upgrading to the newest Mystic, it doesn't.

I'm gonna try renaming the files, but with the same .ans, .an1, .an2, etc format. I'll get back to you in a sec.

I wonder did you test welcomeX.anY (where X is a number and Y is 1-9,A-Z) or did you test it with logonX.anY ?

    From the wiki

    [snip]

    Random Display Files

Mystic has the capability to allow up to 36 variations of any display file to be selected a random each time it is displayed. This is done by changing the last character in the file extension to a number from 1 to 9 or a letter from
A to Z, but IN ALL CASES at a minimum a file with a 1 must exist for Mystic
to select a randomly displayed file.

For example: If the display file named EXAMPLE.ASC and EXAMPLE.AS1 exists, Mystic will randomly select any one of the following files that may exist for display, because a filename with a 1 as the last character of the extension exists:

    EXAMPLE.ASC EXAMPLE.ASA EXAMPLE.ASK EXAMPLE.ASU
    EXAMPLE.AS1 EXAMPLE.ASB EXAMPLE.ASL EXAMPLE.ASV
    EXAMPLE.AS2 EXAMPLE.ASC EXAMPLE.ASM EXAMPLE.ASW
    EXAMPLE.AS3 EXAMPLE.ASD EXAMPLE.ASN EXAMPLE.ASX
    EXAMPLE.AS4 EXAMPLE.ASE EXAMPLE.ASO EXAMPLE.ASY
    EXAMPLE.AS5 EXAMPLE.ASF EXAMPLE.ASP EXAMPLE.ASZ
    EXAMPLE.AS6 EXAMPLE.ASG EXAMPLE.ASQ
    EXAMPLE.AS7 EXAMPLE.ASH EXAMPLE.ASR
    EXAMPLE.AS8 EXAMPLE.ASI EXAMPLE.ASS
    EXAMPLE.AS9 EXAMPLE.ASJ EXAMPLE.AST

    [snip]

Now I have two files in my text directory called

    LOGON1.ANS
    LOGON1.AN1

Mystic will randomly display one or the other after I login.
