• nodespy enhancement suggestion

    g00r00,

I have a suggestion for nodespy that I'm wondering if you would entertain adding.

At the moment, we are able to put other BBSs in the list, and with a single press, we can launch telnet, rlogin or ssh. I would really like to be able to enter shell commands here also. For example, I'd really like an entry that I could use to launch "fidopoll -forced" and other maintenance scripts that I call manually from time to time.

    Thanks for entertaining the idea.

Nodespy isn't the best place for that - you can already do it as part of the BBS itself in Configuration Windows Console tying it to a function key.
Nodespy isn't really part of the BBS itself which polling is. Now the server window itself might be a good place for that as a function key setup like it can be in the BBS. The other thing is just run it as a batch file or script (which is what I do).

I already have scheduled events running. However, there are times I'd like to force an event, to make sure things are running correctly, etc. The system is running with nodespy at all times, so it seems like a logical place to have a key to launch arbitrary commands. If I had to log in to the BBS just to pick
a function from a menu, I'll just exit nodespy and run the command directly.

I've added something to the TODO list for this. I don't know how long it
will be before I eventually get around to doing it though.

    That's all I can ask for :)

    Thanks
