    Dear All,

I've got a question. Is there anything special one must
do to start using fTelnet & Mystic BBS?

My setup is following. Server in the Internet with all
ports open. And fTelnet in directory of Apache web server.

After that when I open the fTelnet web page and try to connect
to given server it fails. In the Mystic BBS Console there is
an attempt of that connection. But aftewards it dissapear from
the console and fTelnet writes: "Could not connect to host".

Any hint on what am I doing wrong? My fTelnet is not using proxy.
And when I try to connect from SyncTerm the connection goes
    through.

Any hint would be mostly appreciated.

    Best regards

    Shinobi

You have to use a proxy with fTelnet if you're using Mystic, whether Rick's,
    or your own.

    http://my.ftelnet.ca/settings/
    to use his, or:

    https://github.com/rickparrish/fTelnetProxy
to download fTelnetProxy and run your own.

I've been running my own fTelnetProxy (my version is older, called FleckProxy) for a while, pretty easy setup and no issues.

if your running a non standatrd port(s) like I am Rick will have to white
    list your setup

I have it running for 2 bbs's so people can log in via the web

Well. I'm not 100% sure what does that mean. I opened in
in the firewall. But that's possible just incoming tcp.

Just now I've got a workaround. Simple and easy. That's
using the ftelnet proxy server. It just simply works.

    Thanks for the direction guidance.

Thanks very much. That would definitely solve my problem... unless
I'm on the Linux platofrm. And so as far as my knowledge goes the
    fTelnetProxy is Windows only.

I've been running my own fTelnetProxy (my version is older, called FleckProxy) for a while, pretty easy setup and no issues.

However I was able to figure out the way. And that's the solution in using fTelnetProxy server. It just simply works.

    Thank You very much again.

Yeah, not an issue. You can do this on your own setup as well. Run
fTelnetProxy once to create the .ini file, open it, put

    relay.cfg

as the file to look for RelayFilename= in the .ini

Create a relay.cfg text file in the fTelnetProxy dir, pop stuff like this in it:

    bbs.atotallycoolbbs.com:2323
    acb.anothercoolbbs.net:2324

for example, for each BBS you want it to connect to. Then just have fTelnet point to what port your system is connecting to fTelnetProxy, and it should shunt to the correct BBS.

I did not bother to do that , I use his service , made it simple for a quick post to one of my websites , but yes you can roll your own with no problems
