• Weird ANSI behaviour

So I've played around with Mystic's ansimrd.ans file to change up the colors. At the bottom is a display code that says "Reading: |MB" and on the right
side of that line it says "? for Help." I'm not sure what I did but now when the |MB fills in with the message base name it pushes the "? for Help" line causing it to wrap to the next line, therefore causing the "Yes, No,
Continue" prompt to display. So now every message you have to press enter before the message will display.

Anyone know about ansi creation and how to stop the display code to not push the rest of that line over and wrap?

I believe what I did was to put the (pipe)MB into a set amount of characters using the formatting MCI codes. For example (and using "1" instead of pipe in case something wants to translate it here, making it look like garbage):

Reading: 1[L<number of columns you want to use>1MB - ? for Help

With the left padding, it will look normal after "Reading:", however it will always use the amount of space you set in the <>'s, never more or less. So anything longer than the amount of space provided would be cut short, and anything less than the space provided will fill the rest with blank spaces..

Either way, the "? for Help" will always remain in the same place.

    Nick

My current workaround was NOT to use pablodraw as it doesn't seem to save properly (at least for me). I just redid the ansi from within Mystics ansi editor and removed the "? for help" text. I don't think it's needed to be honest.

But I'll definitely keep your post in mind if I encounter a similar issue
down the road or if I revisit this ansi.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Did you by chance make sure to disable SAUCE before saving? Otherwise, it auto-saves with it by default (which was changed to this way in the last
few years, and I thought it was a horrible idea).

What I usually do is create the ansis, and don't add anything extra to them in the actual ansi editor. Instead, once the ansi is saved, I edit the ansi with a text editor and add in my MCI codes at the end of the file, using MCI X/Y coordinates for placement. Probably more habit from the days where if you wanted to place your codes on the actual ansi, you needed to use animation
mode in TheDraw. That's no longer necessary these days though.

    That's probably what it was.

Perhaps going into a text editor and going to the end of the ansi code and pressing DEL until you cannot use the arrow keys to go below that line, do
not hit enter and save the file?
