Hey g00r00, was mid-reply (with quotes from your message) about revamping the directory structure of mystic, and then my computer installed an emergency update and rebooted. :)

So, I'll just paraphrase what I was going to say - sounds great. I like to think of the directory structure in terms of simplicity/readability, security (we should shy away from putting files we need to modify by hand in ./data/), and backups. Right now running some type of automated backup is kind of
hacky. I'd really love to find ourselves in a world where an automated backup (from mystic -cfg, there's a "backup" option or something, or maybe a command line option) is a possibility. So, figured I'd plant that seed while you're thinking about a new directory structure. :)

Of course...a simple backup would require a simple restore...but that should
    be easy enough.

Presumably you don't want to make things too linux-y, but should you ever change your mind, I'd be happy to help brainstorm.

I am working on something for that BTW. :)

Thank you I am glad so many people are on board. I bought these changes up a while back and had more negative feedback than I was expecting.

I don't see why we can't make that happen, it could grab the various data files and ZIP something up with a datestamp in some defined directory, and then roll the backups similar to how I roll the date-based log files. We could have an option to record the binaries too, or just the data files, themes, scripts, etc. An automated restore option would be pretty cool too.

I'm adding this to the TODO list. I like this idea.
