• Prealpha updated

From g00r00@21:1/108 to All on Monday, November 20, 2017 23:29:16
I've updated the prealpha again. This one has NNTP server in MIS2 and some Linux bugfixes. I wasn't able to get IPV6 working in my Linux machine to do more testing in that area, unfortunately.

I'm sitting for now on the special *.bsy remix of Mystic for 1/100 :)

Suggestion - with regards IPv4 or IPv6 setting for echonodes... how about allowing an IPv6+IPv4 option as well... so Fidopoll will attempt to connect
via IPv6 then fallback to IPv4 if a timeout occurs, can't find AAAA record (or similar)..

I was also wondering about if it was a good move to allow sysops to state the host settings for IPv4 and IPv6 separately? I know in my case I have set an AAAA record for agency.bbs.geek.nz but also offer ipv6.agency.bbs.geek.nz and ipv4.agency.bbs.geek.nz to allow great control of polling by those who want
    to force things..

Just a thought. I'm not so sure about the need for a separate IPv6 host field... but do think a IPv6+IPv4 option (along with whatever timeout
settings etc. go with this) would be good.

    Best, Paul

    Avon,

If you set to ipv6 only it will auto fall back to ipv4 if the AAAA record was not found, least I know thats the case in linux.

I have it set this way vs just ipv4 which is an option. =)

    Cheers!

I was getting hammered by (script-kiddies) on A36 11-19 plus I was blocking tons of iplocation probably 80% or more. My XP sp3 with only 2 gigs ram was running so slow that it was affecting the mRC MPL server with killer lag to
the point few could even chat on it. I tried but failed to get the mis2 ftp server to work after opening the proper ports. I decided to just port it all over to a linux mint laptop with 8 gigs of ram under A35/64 that I'd been working on for weeks. I'm still getting port hammered on (23) from kids in the USA and CAN but nothing like before. Will see about upgrading to A36 after I get a few more things ironed out over here. Also I'd like to thank Pequito
for helping me keep my system up and still running when my options where limited. Due to PC machines that all where found in a dumper, then repaired.. Anyway, that is what is going on in my neck of the woods..long live mystic!

I've updated the prealpha for Linux and Windows for the second time today.

This one attempts to address an issue Avon had with MIS crashing, but it involved a bunch of rework of the status code so we'll see what the result is.

    Updated to version 2017/12/23 20:09:07

This one did not work for me. I experienced a server lock up twice in a row
and it seemed to happen once a system tried to connect to the BinkP server.
The MIS display did not show those connections, it locked up as they came in, but you can see in the logging they occurred leading to a lock up.

Just updated the pre-alpha with some new features that people have requested over the past few days as well as some bugfixes... and a few new things I was working on.

Linux and Windows only still, but I hope to work on OSX/Pi solutions this weekend.

I finally finished rewriting my socket libraries for opportunistic SSL so now the first client (the SMTP sendmail) is fully TLS v1.2+ compliant. I also
have a BINKP extension which will obviously be proprietary to Mystic BBS but
it will allow opportunistic TLS so that BINKP sessions will be secured now as well.
