• How to tie File Areas to File Base

From peconi@21:1/172 to All on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 05:37:00
    Hi all,

Trying to tie specific File Areas to their own file Base but am not having
    any luck.

Namely - I have a File Base (1) Local Files Base.
I want to create File Areas (such as Uploads) but show it only under this Base/Group, and not under, say File Base (2) fsxNet File Group.

I tried editing the permissions similar to Message Bases, allowing access
such as s10g1, and tried even s10b1 (as in b for base, instead of g for
group), but still - the file areas show up in both bases.

It Sure works for message areas, but I can't get it to work here.

Any nudge in the right direction on how to set permissions so they show up in their own spefic area would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Sure, use the Z ACS code

So create file base groups like 1 for local, 2 for fsxNet, 3 for ...

The assign ACS for list etc. like this example

    List ACS ³ s10z6
    Upload ACS ³ s255z6
    Download ACS ³ s20z6
    Hatch ACS ³ s255z6
    FTP ACS ³ s20z6
    Sysop ACS ³ s255z6

    or whatever works for you.

    Best, Paul

You probably already have your answer by now but if I recall, someone
mentioned in an earlier thread that it's "z" you are looking for. I could be wrong though.

    s10z1 etc...

You are correct. Avon told me already but I appreciate it. Thanks!

Yes, why he used Z even g00r00 likely doesn't know - it came to mind I guess.
I would think s10m1 & s10f1 would make more sense, but this was about having something to keep coding I think. My guess is the g is for group, but then he had trouble with file groups as he used g, so just picked z so he could get
on with coding it and it stuck. Just the way things go. ;)
