• mis2 binkp vs mis

    From Skuz@21:1/105 to g00r00 on Thursday, September 07, 2017 21:49:16
Well I just check to see if iREX 2.31 will do mail poll with A35_win32 mis2 binkp and found out.. No it will not. So I changed to the mis, same as I was doing with A34_win32 and it does work also with A35_win32 MIS. What is happening is mystic is trying to send all bundled mail when iREX polls. But
the logs show a binkp error when the second file starts. So only one file at a time can be sent successfully.

I realize that MIS will be replaced with MIS2 sooner or later and there is no support anymore for iREX for years now. Yet some systems are still using it today, anyway. In the past I've used Argus, Radius and Taurus family of binkp mailers and still have a few of these mailers do mail with my A35_win32 binkp

Now my question is, since IREX polling MIS2 doesn't work at all here when it polls for mail. Maybe I should just try using a differnt mailer for most all
my other point systems. There isn't any real point to post my MIS log that actually does show mail being sent, since it will soon be replaced.

I had a similar problem with BBBS here and found that in my situation I used both BBBS's Binkp capabilities as well as a separate BinkD server both running
on their own ports to handle incoming/outgoing mail. Mail for some links would
go out via BBBS while others would go out via BinkD.

That having been said I would give g00r00 a chance to look into the situation before making any such decisions. Unfortunately I don't have any Irex connections to compare notes with.

I'm not really sure what I did to get iREX working when it polls MIS2 A35, might have been a reboot.. hehe But it's working as before. Only thing that
is still an issue.. it is still only able to send just one mail bundle file
at a time successfully. The iREX log shows a binkp error message when the second file starts and the transfer bar hangs on the 2nd file. Mystic shows that connection times-out and disconnects. On the inboard side the second
mail bundle is alway 0-bytes. So if there are 7 query files, iREX will need
to poll 7 times to receive all it's mail.

I use to have some binkd config files that Al from Rusty Nailbox had sent me
to help me with the proper way on getting it to work. But I've lost or can't find wtf I did with them (: Anyways.. I have an old Taurus backup around here. What I did like about irex is the file REQ actually worked.

Well this is why I was asking people to test before I released the A35
    version :)

I have had changes to MIS2 BINKP. As far as MIS, that is not being worked on.

All I can say is I'm sorry to disappoint anyone. I've switched to using MIS2 after I realized that the MIS was no longer being worked on.

IC.. I've been feeding all types of different mailers on multipliable
networks. Survnet is rather small (32-nodes) compared to fsxnet and others. After doing a search on my logs it appears that there are still only 3
systems nodes that are using irex. I'm also sure that I've posted threads
about mystic transferring files one at a time (with mis) even when there is a query of multipliable files+tic's when connecting the a irex system probably going back over a year now. Anyway, honesty I care nothing about unsupported irex but that doesn't change the fact that some people are still using it for whatever their reasons are.. I personally would love to see all irex systems just change to some other mailer, other then irex and make my life much more simple. Most of my node links are using mystic 1st, then binkd, argus,
radius, taurus, bbbs, irex in that order of the main mailers being used from scanning my logs.
