• Duplicate user IDs

From Jikey@21:2/130 to All on Sunday, July 16, 2017 08:53:51

I noticed something odd in my Mystic Config. There are multiple users with duplicate user IDs. Probably not a good thing :-)

Is there a way to do a reindex of some type to fix this?

    Thank,
    Dean.

I had the same thing happening here for awhile. I think it stopped when i reached 50 or so users.

    Try running:

    mbbsutil -fixindex

That will renumber the users in the index.

yep just run mbbsutil -fixindex, this should fix that issue and keep them
going in the correct order going forward.

    Cheers!

Are you doing anything with mystic.dat by chance? Like backup and restoring it?

I have the same issue. With Windows, it seemed to start working when I
reached about 30 users. Once I switched over to Linux, I'm having the problem again, and I'm in the 70s for users now.

What I ended up doing, is just running mbbsutil -fixindex about once a week
    to correct any issues.

    Just a note:

Some of the data files are linked. If you separate mystic.dat and users.dat
in any way, you are going to get users with bad indexes. For example if you copy over mystic.dat and then copy over users.dat at another time, or vice versa, you'll get this.

They have to never be "separated" from each other. Restoring a mystic.dat
from backup means you have to also restore the users that went along with it.

Usually people do some sort of backup restore when this issue pops up.

I really need to unlink those two datafiles. I've been meaning to for a long time now.

I think you just answered it. I think when I switched over to Linux, I had copied both files over, but then copied the users.dat file again, due to a
    new user...

    Thanks for the info.
