• Nodelist Merge in MUTIL

    From Weatherman@21:1/132 to All on Saturday, September 17, 2016 21:45:00

    Had some time to do some more work with Mystic today and now have WWIVnet-FTN echos going to/from my Weather Station (Mystic) BBS.

    Everything has been going great, but ran into a minor snag and was wondering if
    anyone else had this issue?

    I'm running the very latest version of Mystic. I have the Nodelist Merge setup
    in MUTIL but no matter what, I can't get it to read the nodelist file in the directory that I have it pointing to. I have tried moving it to other locations and updating MUTIL.INI, but no luck.

    Is there something else I'm missing to get the nodelist browsing to work?

    Thanks.

    If Windows make sure to point full paths aka \mystic\mutil.ini when using
    mutil also check out the header of the file and make sure the option is enabled. :)

    Check you have unzip installed, check the case name of the nodelist is
    correct (if using linux), as the others have also suggested check you have
    the mergenodelists stanza set to true.

    If you want to please post the output of mutil logging at level 3 along with the nodefile line you are using in your mergenodlists stanza :)

    I have to agree with Dream master, did you put the filename at the end?
    I Put both upper and lower case (Linux) to be sure:
    nodefile=/mystic/files/fsx_node/FSXNET
    nodefile=/mystic/files/fsx_node/fsxnet
    nodefile=/mystic/files/rtn_nodelist/RETRONET
    nodefile=/mystic/files/rtn_nodelist/retronet
    I know my path is all lower case, but the filename can be either.

    did you add it to the .ini file where the file is?

    Yes, but saw the tip about adding the nodefile entry twice (once in upper and once in lower) and it is now working. I didn't think I would have to do that given that I'm running Windows and not Linux.

    Just glad it is working now. Thanks!

    I didn't have unzip installed, but my nodelist wasn't archived. I did install unzip/zip and it didn't start working until I added two lines (one upper and one lower) for the same nodefile. And this is running in Windows..

    Your post with the upper and lower duplicate entries is what got mine working, thanks! I'm running Windows here, too, do wouldn't have expected that.

    I even changed the directory to all lower to match the filename and it still didn't work until I had the two duplicate entries (one upper and one lower).

    Make sure you don't give it the full extension. So, just C:\MYSTIC\ECHOMAIL\NODELIST\NODELIST will do it (in windows)

    Interesting. :) I haven't gone down the nodelist importing road yet, I was thinking of using sed to rename the files to all lowercase, but seems this is an easier way.

    Good to have unzip installed as when it builds nodelist.txt in data dir it
    can extract nodelist files from within zipped nodelists if it has access to unzip. Mine does this all the time as I am pointing my system to the files in the fsx_node filebase. The upper / lower thing should not be an issue in windows as far as I know, that's the first I have heard of it. I'm at work
    but when I get home tonight I'll check my entries to confirm my setup but I'm 95% sure it's just one line that works fine here on a windows 7 system
