• Mis2

From Nugax@21:1/107 to All on Sunday, June 18, 2017 08:33:17
I haven't jumped on mis2 yet.. and before I did I was wondering:

    1) Besides the IPv6 what else does it do that now doesn't

    2) I assume it runs in daemon mode for us Linux folks? -d?

    Gracias!

SSH and rlogin are supported in MIS2 as well.

    2) I assume it runs in daemon mode for us Linux folks? -d?

Different commandline switch, but yes, it runs as a daemon.

Has everything MIS has except the events, but plus side is SSH and RLOGIN are also available options for users to connect to the system.

    To run daemon can do:
    sudo ./mis2 daemon

It uses full commands to see them all just do ./mis2 or sudo ./mis2 to see
    the listing available. =)

    Cheers!

    1) Besides the IPv6 what else does it do that now doesn't

It has telnet, rlogin, ssh, and binkp servers all of which support ipv6.

    2) I assume it runs in daemon mode for us Linux folks? -d?

Yes it can if you want it to, just like MIS.

Its a work in progress but its going to replace MIS entirely, and MIS will go away permanently.

    My only question is:

Besides IPv6 I see no other reason to run mis2. Is that what mis2 was
created? Or is there some other reason?

I don't even have IPv6 addresses yet from my datacenter, so it really does me no good unless there is other benefits.

I'd probably just wait until mis is removed if there are no additional
features and it doesn't even have events or NNTP.

You don't want to offer SSH or rlogin connections? SSH is particularly important for some people these days, with its encryption.

I don't even have IPv6 addresses yet from my datacenter, so it really

Do as we do, run both - MIS2 runs what it supports, MIS for the rest. :)
