allows sysops and co-sysops the ability to go to the BASH shell
prompt. It would preferably be coded in MPL, but may also b
e coded in Python. The reason for this is that it is essential
that NodeSpy (Mystic BBS' system of watching what the users are doing onlin
e) can view the actions of the person in the shell, allowing
a disconnection in the case of emergency. This software/sc
ript would be meant for systems that use SSH to logon with;
it would not be suitable for Telnet logons. It would start
a new terminal in which the user would need to provide a logon name a
nd a password to gain access. This application would be able
to run whatever shell is linked to from /bin/sh, whether it be
BASH/DASH/KSH/etc. Within the terminal colour codes would
display properly. The test of this would be whether "./myst

Having a web browser in MysticBBS would be a game changer. It wo
uld allow people to feel the power of the shell. This would
be a fork of the popular LYNX browser. Some modifications
would need to be made to allow users to download to their ho
me computers what has been downloaded to the bulletin board
system. This would involve a temporary space for files for users and
would delete itself upon logoff of the BBS. Shelling to
the command line (BASH/etc.) would be disabled if it is a cu
rrent feature of the LYNX browser. It may be nice to have th
e downloaded files be automatically put into a file base tha
t holds user's temporary files so that after exiting LYNX a user
could visit the "Temporary LYNX Files" filebase, download whatever is there
, and have the filebase get emptied upon logoff of the syste
m. A prefix of 001- to 255- would be prefixed to the file a
rea so that if multiple users on multiple nodes download fil
es they would only get to download their own files and not

It would be threaded so that people could respond to requests
in an attractive manner that uses a hierarchy of messages, beginning wit

ssively down the tree. This would incorporate messages to th
e people who post requests, that their request has been fulf
illed, that more information is requested, and other relevan
t information to the request. There would be two sub-menus, one with
open "tickets" and another with resolved "tickets." The sysop would have t
he ability to add, remove, and fulfill tickets. The system
would be customizable with the use of ANSI graphics files th
at can be modified to change the "skin" of the file request
door. A file base called "file requests" would contain the
files uploaded to it, from the File Request Door's menu system.

There's a lot to read and digest here. My first thoughts are that you may
well find that the need to offer cash for code is not necessary. Whilst it
may motivate some I think the general vibe/ethos of those active here is to
do things for fun, to help others, because they like a challenge etc. and not for the motivation of $$. Hey I may be wrong but that's my gut impression.

and I think you will find past examples for Linux in fsxNet here also - I recall Pequito of Twinkle BBS has shared examples of this before :)

RSS feed examples also exist on some BBS systems already etc. so yep, just a thought.

It will be interesting to read others feedback and thoughts / suggestions on your request(s).
