I don't think the IP blocking works with NNTP (I may be wrong) I thought it worked with BinkP and Telnet.

If I am correct then I'd look at the NNTP session log on your server to see what is going on.

Mystic does block any specific IP that opens too many sessions at the
same time, it used to happen with me a lot when I was using the internal NNTP server.

Check your NNTP server settings and change the amount of simultaneous connections, if I'm not mistaken.
