• Mystic Question - Display File

From kateflower@21:1/101 to All on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 21:48:08
    Hi,

I'm wondering how the Display File works in the File Base Editor. I am assuming that when you switch Areas then this file is displayed. However,
I cannot get this to work right now.

    What file formats are supported?
Where do I store the file, at the moment I put this into the same location as the File Path, but without much success.

    Thanks,
    Kate.

    Hi,

Hi. I don't think I have welcomed you to fsxNet yet. If I did, a apologize.
    I'm getting old... :)

I haven't used the Display File from in the editor, so I'm not 100% sure how that works.

If you would like an Ansi/Ascii file to display when you change groups, either file or message, there are specific file names that Mystic looks for in the mystic\text\ directory. These are 'group#.ans' for the message areas, and 'fgroup#.ans' for the file groups. The # represents the group number within
    the Mystic -cfg.

I would assume that the Display File would show a specific Ansi/Ascii file
for each particular area within the group. Try setting the file name in one
of them, and create a file with that name in your mystic\text\ directory.

    I hope that helps a bit. :)

The docs have this to say..

    [snip]

This option defines the display file that Mystic can display
before the files in this base are listed. This field is
optional and should be left blank if you do not wish to have
Mystic send a display file before each file list.

Mystic supports ANSI and ASCII files. You would want to save the file with
the .ANS and .ASC extensions respectively. You would save these files in the TEXT directory :)

    Hope this helps.

    Best, Paul

We must also be up and about at the same time as you reply landed in my echo area at the same time my one was heading to the 1/100 HUB :)
