• Message Index Listing

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Monday, September 12, 2016 22:06:00
When I'm reading a list of messages in the base, which line in default text adjust the header text? ## Subject From To etc... I'm having probs trying to track the sucker down :)

I've been playing tonight trying to get the message numbering displaying correctly.

Are you refering to /text/ansimrd.* the message header text? That would be how you would adjust the thing ... not in the /data/default.txt (:

I'm pretty sure that's not in data/default.txt but instead is in text/ansimrd.ans which is why you can't find it.
You likely didn't have the "Structured Programming" courses but that's always been something I hated about them. Lots of separate files to find and figure out ;( There are pluses and minuses on that of course. The plus is you can
get to it without recompiling the program, the minus the hard to find files that hold the data.

Nope that's not the one, it's the one that sits above the view you get in a message base when you press L to list messages and you see message number on the right and then I have subject who from who to and date

I check that but sadly it's not the one. What's bugging me is I must have changed it in the past as I did some mods to who the date is displayed and (from memory) the order of the various columns

ANSI for the Messgae Index Listing should be the same name for the INI you
are using for it to show NOT ansimrd.

So was it ansimlst.ans? As Skuz said. I didn't see that one, I was also
working on my gfiles listings to get that reading to my likely (easier to see with yellow text instead of cyan and such. I read the 'doc' (sysop.txt).

Take care Paul, I'm sorry to ear about that... I've managed to implement your Usenet feeds in BBS, as VKRadio net too :)

Thanks, checking in again during a lull at work. I'm not that great, just
went to be last night and did almost zero BBS activity. Probably going to do the same tonight.Sad eh? Just battling bugs and on a course of antibiotics.

So advance apologies to all if I am not that active over the next few days. :(

I think the L listing one (Numbers on the left not right normally) isn't in default.txt. 125 is the only thing that has ## but I don't think that's it 100-128 is email headers and stuff. 487-515 is the Message base stuff but I don't see it there either. The Header your looking for looks something like: ##Subject From To

Right? That's the one your looking for isn't it? Looks like it's not in default.txt so time to look at other stuff again ;(
