• MIS2 Locking Files

    From Avon@21:1/101 to g00r00 on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 19:36:40
    This is an interesting one.

I see there is a packer ex 1/109 sent via IPv6 using MIS2 that remains stuck
in my inbound and processed every time MUTIL is run but never deleted afterwards as the file is held/locked by MIS2

    You get the idea.

If I drop to windows explorer and try to delete the file from the inbound
dir I get the following windows error

"this action can't be completed because the file is open in mis2' try again / cancel ...

The only way I can unjam the file is to shut down MIS2

In my case MIS2 is handling IPv6 binkp traffic only for 1/100 HUB

    Hi Vk3jed!

    16 May 2017 20:45, from Vk3jed -> Avon:

    Windows file locking again?

Windows has many flaws ... but what should it do if a process locks the file?

Looks like a bug in Mystic to me ...

Seems some echomail files coming in via BinkD using MIS running over IPv6 are being locked so that when MUTIL processes them they are not deleted.

This leads to a growing dupe base at the HUB and the same packet being processed each time MUTIL is run. The only fix is to stop MIS2 to release the files.

I will have to send you a new MIS2 soon to try. I've been making changes in the core code as well as doing some DDOS attacks on it to help identify any instabilities.

    g00r00,

Just a reminder, as I know you have a lot on your plate right now, that MIS
is still having an issue with the TIC files getting locked as well.

Nothing urgent, just a friendly reminder. :)

Okay is this MIS or MUTIL?

If you are using Windows there is a MUTIL you can test with at:

    http://www.mysticbbs.com/downloads/mutil.rar

To see if the TIC still gets stuck

This is with MIS. The TIC file will sit in the incoming echomail directory. When I try to delete it, Windoze will give me the error of "file in use by mis.exe".

If this is the same one that you gave us a few weeks ago, I already have it running. The TIC file is still getting stuck. :(

I'll grab it and see if it's the same date/time stamp on it.

    Thanks,

This is not the same one, this was one current as of today. It shouldn't
fix your issue with MIS.EXE locking but it is the latest build of next
    alpha's mutil.
