• mis2 servers not tossing any file

From fabian@21:2/106 to All on Sunday, May 14, 2017 20:07:37
    Hi all,

I'm sure somebody has already ran into the problem I'm experiencing so I hope there is an easy explanation for this.

When I'm using MIS server, all incoming & outgoing messages are being
processed as expected, quickly and automatically.

Following the last message from g00r00 telling us that MIS will be deprecated and replaced by MIS2, I switched my startup commands. And when servers are
ran through MIS2, incoming & outgoing messages are stored in echomail folder but stay there. My server receives outside messages but they're not
integrated into Mystic databases, same thing for what has to be sent. I couldn't find any obvious error message in the logs so I'm a bit lost here.

I reswitched to MIS and whoops... all pending messages are delivered immediately. I see the same thing with alpha 32 or 33... o_O

Any idea for what cause this behaviour ?

The last that I heard, MIS2 does not have the functionality to run 'events' yet. If your mail processing is run through the events, you will have to continue to run MIS.

While MIS is being depreciated, MIS2 is still in testing, and is not quite ready to be a complete upgrade yet.

You have to run both, MIS for Events and MIS2 (no events in MIS2).

Well, that was not obvious then, I'm glad I asked around ... o_O....

    Ok, I'll try that, thanks

Yes, the event subsystem hasn't been implemented in MIS2 yet. If you want to run MIS2, then run MIS alongside it.

my mis crashes randomly and doesnt stay up too long at one time. so i changed to mis2. i only run telnet and bink with mis2. it doesn't really help to run mis alongside the mis2 since it wont start without any services turned on.
and it crashes after a while.

i heard theres a patch for linux as well (running 1.12a35/linux) that fixes
the issue. is it somewhere where i could grab it from?

if its not available could someone send it over to velikani@gmail.com or something?

I have NNTP and SMTP/POP3 turned on in MIS, so I haven't seen that issue.

I'm not aware of that one.

thanks, i'll take a look. meantime i "fixed" it so that

mis runs only binkp (in order it to even start, stay up and run events)
    mis2 runs telnet

seems to work now. i do miss the country-ban option in mis..

The tag line shows Pi so you have iptables, it's a bit to setup, but you can ban anything you want as it's coming in. There are tables for the problem countries at http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/data/countries/cn.zone where cn
is the country code. China=cn, Russia=ru, India=in and so on. I put it all under /mystic since that's where I really use it.
    cd /mystic
    sudo rm cn.zone ru.zone #kill old lists
    sudo ipset -N china hash:net
    wget -P . http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/data/countries/cn.zone
    sudo ipset -N russia hash:net
    wget -P . http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/data/countries/ru.zone
    #
sudo -i #can't really do this as a script
    #
    cd /mystic ; for i in $(cat cn.zone ); do ipset -A china $i; done
    for i in $(cat ru.zone ); do ipset -A russia $i; done
    #
    iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m set --match-set china src -j DROP
    iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m set --match-set russia src -j DROP
iptables -L #only for feedback to you
    exit #end root connection

A bit of work, but it cuts out the main problems.

I will be adding something into MIS2 that will not rely on a service for country blocking and will also work for IPV6. The reason Blacklist DNS and CCDNS aren't in MIS2 is because of IPV6 support.
